About the position:

Americares Emergency Response program delivers medical assistance and other relief to people affected by natural disasters, civil conflict and disease outbreaks around the world and in the United States. The organization responds to an average of 30 incidents each year, including major disasters such as Hurricane Ian, the Hawaii Wildfires and the Ukraine Crisis, as well as regional and localized events that never make the headlines but devastate lives.

Organizational readiness is a key factor for Americares to provide life-saving disaster assistance in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Our ability to respond quickly and effectively around the world is driven by our diverse roster of trained emergency response personnel, country office readiness and preparedness planning. This position will play an important role in planning, creating, overseeing logistics and potentially facilitating training for internal and external emergency responders. This position will have the opportunity to manage and operationalize an engagement strategy for our 900+ Global Roster members, with support from the Manager, Training and Capacity Building and other Readiness team members.

Key Outcomes:

In the first 90 days , the Associate, Emergency Programs Tr aining & Capacity Building will :

U nderstand the Global Readiness strategy and goals and how they fit into the larger Emergency Programs and organizational goals.
Understand the composition and dynamics of the Global Roster to support the current training and engagement strategy and identify areas of improvement.
Learn an d live the Americares values.
Complete all required new hire onboarding training .

In the first 6 months, the Associate, Emergency Programs Tr aining & Capacity Building will:

M anage multiple small projects in support of our larger training and capacity building projects .
Complete a training audit to ensure data accuracy amongst our Global Roster.
Manage the training calendar (including regional training ) and work to create and implement new systems for training management.
Create training materials and quick guides .
Support our Learning Management System (LMS) training roll out to Global Roster members from 62+ countries.

In the first year, t he Associate, Emergency Programs Tr aining & Capacity Building will:

Take full ownership of the engagement strategy and work with key internal stakeholders to plan and host events remotely, each quarter.
M anage our On-Call Shift Calendar and propose ideas for how to continually strengthen our organizational readiness, in relation to our training and capacity building offerings .

Duties and Responsibilities:

Training:

Support the roll-out of online learning courses and assist in ensuring quarterly reports are pulled.
Assist in planning and creating in-person training and remote training opportunities for Global Roster members. This includes but is not limited to, initial outreach and email correspondence, project tracking and logistics.
Create a feedback mechanism to guide our training objectives for FY24.

Engagement:

Oversee the Global Roster engagement strategy and plan with a focus on connecting Global Roster Members with the broader Emergency Programs Team .
Manage the Global Roster quarterly newsletter by collecting and creating content that is relevant and impactful for all roster members .
Plan and host remote engagement activities for Global Roster members including Coffee & Tea Chat’s, informational sessions, Q&A sessions and more .

Capacity Building

Create new materials for Global Roster members and On-Call Shift Calendar Members, such as maintenance and equipment guides, cultural guides for deployment and a Roster Resource page on SharePoint.

Other:

Assist with deployment operations as needed, including but not limited to resource management, deployment tracker management, travel support and Feedback 360 support .
Support emergency response operations, as needed .
Willingness to travel to HQ (Stamford, CT), regional office(s) and/or on an emergency response up to 10% of the time .
Other duties as assigned .

These competencies are required for the role:

At least two years of professional experience, internships included, preferably in the fields of Emergency Response, Global Health, International Development, Training or MERL.
You have exceptional prioritization and organizational skills allowing you to manage multiple tasks at once
You are a connector, utilizing your oral and written communication skills to bring groups of people together
You have experience with report writing, editing, presenting/ facilitating and data-keeping
You are a self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and carry out projects independently.
You can collaborate with diverse teams and be open-minded and aware of unique backgrounds and experiences .
You are proficient in Microsoft Office including SharePoint, Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint .
You are mission orientated and have a desire to work within the emergency response and/or global health sector .

US work authorization is required for this role.

These competencies would be great to have, but are not required :

You have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the fields of International Relations, Political Science, Public Health, Communications, Psychology, Education or a related field.
You have proficiency in using a CRM , preferably Salesforce.
Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc.) , in addition to English.
