We are recruiting on behalf of our client BDS Planning and Urban Design:

The Marketing Director will collaborate closely with BDS Planning's partners and Field Area Leads to align marketing efforts with specific portfolios of work, such as Organizational Development, Equity & Engagement, and Policy & Program Development. The successful candidate will oversee the organization's marketing efforts, conduct regular business development meetings, manage the organization's persona, and collaborate with external marketing/media consultants. This role involves working with Partners in deciding which projects and clients to pursue, client relationships, and business development, ensuring a seamless integration of marketing strategies with project management.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Conduct Regular Business Development Meetings— Lead and organize regular business development meetings to assess current marketing strategies, identify new opportunities, and align marketing efforts with overall business goals.
Manage the Organization’s Persona — Lead and organize regular business development meetings to assess current marketing strategies, identify new opportunities, and align marketing efforts with overall business goals.
Proposal Management — Oversee the proposal management process, including wrangling and coordination of proposal development decision-makers, participants, and efforts.
Collaborate with External Marketing/Media Consultants — Work closely with external marketing and media consultants to leverage their expertise and ensure alignment with BDS Planning’s marketing objectives.
Professional Development — Participate in professional development activities, including seminars, conferences, work groups, certifications, etc. The firm may support some of these activities with paid time and payment of dues or fees.
Supervise Marketing Manager’s Tasks — Provide guidance and supervision to the Marketing Manager in proposal support, quarterly newsletter design and publication, social media content management, ad hoc collateral asset development, brand implementation, and quality control.
Research — Conduct research for various projects and document findings and trade-offs. Examples of research include existing plan reviews, best practices, and data research.
Products — Produce attractive and concise products, including proposals, marketing collateral, social media posts, and other print, graphic, and audio/visual materials.
Business Development — Actively nurture a network of potential clients and project partners, keeping an eye out for project opportunities and helping the firm pursue these opportunities.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
Proven experience in a senior marketing role, focusing on both strategy and implementation.
Familiarity with the planning or consulting industry is a plus.
Demonstrated success in managing a team and collaborating with senior leaders and external consultants.
A commitment to racial equity, the ability to apply racial equity principles to project work, and culturally responsive engagement.
Ability to work empathetically with various people from different social and cultural backgrounds.
Experienced in project management, project planning, and consulting.
Experienced in providing tactical and strategic leadership, planning, and day-to-day management of one or more cross-functional projects.
