Grants & Communications Coordinator

Full-time exempt; approximately 36 hrs/wk

Salary- $33,000-$40,000

Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of a Grant Coordinator is to manage grant application processes from start to finish. This role involves researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for the organization. The Grant Coordinator plays a crucial role in identifying potential funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant guidelines and requirements.

The Communications Coordinator will play a major role in fostering external community relationships as well as developing marketing material.

The Grant & Communications Coordinator’s duties would include:

Report to the Executive Director
Attend weekly team meetings with program staff
Attend individual supervision meetings with the Executive Director
Become familiar with program participants and knowledgeable about daily operations
Maintain regular, monthly communication with donors
Design a monthly newsletter to be sent out to the organization’s network of supporters (e.g., volunteers, mentors, board members, donors)
Create promotional materials for the organization as needed
Represent the organization at various networking events within the community
Design and writing the organization’s annual report, comprised of the success stories, outcomes, and initiatives
Maintain donor management system that ensures timely, personalized acknowledgements of all donations, regardless of amount
Seek out, solicit, and prepare proposals for foundations and other organizations
Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
Seek new opportunities and conduct research to expand the overall brand and organization
Identify potential grant opportunities by researching government, foundation, and corporate funding sources.
Stay informed about grant trends, changes in guidelines, and emerging funding opportunities.
Write clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals that align with the organization's mission and goals.
Customize proposals to meet the specific requirements and priorities of each funding opportunity.
Work closely with the Finance Director and Executive Director to develop accurate and realistic budgets for grant proposals.
Submit grant proposals in a timely manner, adhering to all submission requirements.
Track the status of grant applications and communicate with funding agencies as needed.
Maintain records of all grant-related activities, including submissions, approvals, and reporting deadlines.
Cultivate positive relationships with funding organizations and potential donors.
Attend meetings, conferences, and events to network and stay informed about future funding opportunities.
Other duties as assigned by Executive Director

Minimum qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years work experience
Able to pass a background check

Ideal candidate would:

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g., writing, communications, public relations, marketing, nonprofit management and administration)
Have a minimum of 5 years related experience - ideally within a nonprofit or human services organization
Experience using Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Canva etc.
Possess technological knowledge and proficiency regarding Microsoft Office/Google Drive
Work well with others in a team environment and have open collaboration
Have excellent written and oral communication skills
Have excellent time management and organization skills
