Benefits Specialist

Position Summary: The Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan.

How you will contribute to our team:

Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Conduct new-hire orientations for Corporate and Remote employees.
Perform quality checks of benefits-related data.
Assist employees with benefits claim issues and plan changes.
Distribute all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
Assist employees during open enrollment, new hire enrollment, and with processing qualifying life event changes.
Respond to benefits inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
Assist with the development of communications (quarterly newsletter, benefits app, benefits guide, new hire orientation) to enhance and ensure understanding of all Company benefit programs.
Assist with the annual 401k audit.
Respond to 401k inquiries from employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
Administer the tuition reimbursement program.
Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges and submits invoices for timely payment.
Assist with coordinating workers' compensation claims with the insurance carrier, EHS personnel and Regional HR Managers or Department Supervisors.
Act as a confidential and credible source for employees seeking answers to benefit questions. Handles all inquiries in a professional and confidential manner.
Maintain accurate and confidential electronic personnel and medical files as well as up-to-date benefits files for all employees.
Provide benefits reconciliation reports monthly by (+3 days for the preceding month).
Manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.

The skills, experience and background you bring to the team:

3-8 years’ relevant benefits administration experience
Associate degree required; Bachelors’ degree preferred
PHR, SPHR, SHRM CP credentials preferred
Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including federal and state tax regulations, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, USERRA, ADA, SECTION 125, 5500s, Workers’ Compensation, Medicare, and Social Security requirements.
Possess advanced computer skills in MS Office as well as HRIS systems (Oracle for Benefits and ADP WFN preferred). Advanced Excel is strongly preferred.
