Spread the Word Nevada was formed in February 2001 by Co-Founders Laurie Hartig and Lisa Habighorst.

Spread the Word Nevada is dedicated to advancing early childhood literacy by placing books into the homes of children within Nevada's at-risk, low-income communities. Through community collaboration, mentorship, and family partnership programs, Spread the Word Nevada fosters reading and language development opportunities, ultimately leading to brighter academic and economic futures for these children. We are dedicated to changing the lives of at-risk children, one book at a time.

Spread the Word Nevada's programs include Kids To Kids, Breakfast/Snack Time with Books, Books & Buddies, and Readers in Training. Currently, the Organization's programs are being implemented, supported, and utilized throughout a continuously growing number of elementary schools throughout the Greater Las Vegas Valley as well as Washoe County and Elko County, Nevada.

Position Summary The Marketing Coordinator reports to the Marketing Manager and assists them with maintaining STWN's social media accounts and other digital marketing efforts. Success in this role is measured by: an increase in experience in social media strategy, content creation, research, and management; photography, video, and graphic design production; and developing a deeper understanding of the community and nonprofit sector.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Create of unique and authentic content for Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, the STWN website, the monthly newsletter, and STWN's internal communication platforms based on our content pillars. Content types include photos, videos, graphic artwork, captions, memos, articles, infographics, etc.
Create weekly and monthly content calendars to promote mission and brand.
Create positive engagement with our online social presence to foster community growth and communication.
Help monitor and respond to comments and shared online user-generated content.
Assist with print production needs.
Maintain a directory of preferred marketing-related vendors.
Maintain a catalogue of company photos, graphic artwork, and documents.
Research other agencies, industries, trends, influencers, and media targets to identify marketing and fundraising opportunities.
Support Development team at live and online events.
Perform general industry-related tasks.

Education And/or Experience Requirements

High School Diploma Required, College Degree Preferred

General Requirements

2 years of work experience producing content for digital/print platforms preferred.
Extensive knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn).
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Proficient with photo and video editing, including Canva, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, or similar software. Preference given to those with graphic design experience.
Detail-oriented and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong work ethic and ability to work without supervision.
Personal transportation for occasional travel between worksites.
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.

Certificated, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Nevada State Drivers' License
Current Nevada State Driving Record (w/in 30-days)

Position requires travel within the local area, traveling to office and business locations to conduct business transactions. This involves exposure to weather conditions, traveling distances to and from buildings, and operating a vehicle.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to excessive heat and wet and/or humid outside conditions. Due to working in the office, warehouse, and/or school setting, the noise level in the environment is moderate to high.
