The Research Analyst works closely with the Director of Research, Research Manager, Research Analyst(s), and other internal teams (such as Accounts, Channel, Analytics, etc.) to assist in the day-to-day operations of the agency’s research services. This role supports the team by helping with client projects, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and managing some aspects of client work under supervision.


The Research Analyst will assist in gathering information to understand business goals and objectives, ensuring that research services are consistent and meet client needs. This person will also help identify and evaluate new opportunities for innovation. Strong time management skills, continuous learning aptitude to evolve with tools and technology as they transform, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations are essential for success in this role. The Research Analyst must be collaborative, resourceful, solution-oriented, and able to multi-task with experience in a variety of research methodologies/approaches. The Research Analyst can work independently and autonomously throughout the Enterprise with direction from management.


KEY OUTCOMES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Outcome: Support key accounts from a Research and Strategy perspective and increase efficiencies across teams and within department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with consumer research, become a subject matter knowledge expert for specific accounts to drive strategy and research.
  • Develop annual research goals for accounts and deliver on the tactical roadmap annually.
  • Maintain monthly contributions to the team on research and insights specific to client, testing initiatives and/or industry knowledge/updates.
  • Contribute to internal newsletter highlighting work for agency knowledge and sharing of department capabilities.
  • Understand how our Research team meets client needs and help manage priorities, tasks, and projects to meet those client needs; identify and implement best practices.


Key Outcome: Foster strong interdepartmental collaboration

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain seamless collaboration with internal teams (i.e., accounts, channel, analytics, finance, etc.) to deliver dynamic solutions that drive transformational business impact for our clients.
  • Actively participate in calls and onsite/virtual meetings as needed.
  • Educate internal teams on the value of market research and support the integration of insights into proposals and upselling strategies.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the client’s business and market landscape.
  • Nurture and maintain a collaborative, and positive approach to Research solutions.
  • Foster a productive and empowering working culture with fellow employee owners cross departmentally, ensuring our clients get the best experience and results.


Key Outcome: Deliver clear, concise, and tailored communication, ensuring alignment and shared understanding across initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Present and communicate solutions and recommendations, across all capabilities, in partnership with internal teams.
  • Communicate effectively and be a subject matter expert resource for the Enterprise on research methods, approaches, strategies, and tools.
  • Convey strategic insights tied to business outcomes as part of the outcome of Research.
  • Present findings to clients through charts, graphs, and other visual means to help make better-informed business decisions.
  • Ensure clients receive clear and accurate information in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in educating clients, both internally and externally, on why market research is effective.
  • Communicating with clients/attending client calls & meetings to discuss market research and insights.


Key Outcome: Be a Strategy/Research Subject Matter Expert

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle new business support as assigned by the Enterprise.
  • Develop and recommend research plans and objectives that ladder up to business outcomes for our clients, both internally and externally.
  • Evaluate, interpret, and summarize insights based on market research findings.
  • Build out and conduct market research surveys.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Research and Research staff to provide necessary market research budgets and information to internal teams as requested for proposals and RFPs.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the client’s business and market landscape.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative market research, as needed based on internal/external stakeholder needs.
  • Provide competitive analysis on various companies’ market offerings, identify market trends, pricing/business models, sales, and methods of operation.
  • Stay up to date on research and digital marketing trends, help identify future opportunities for clients.
  • Stays informed of general company goals and how they apply to projects.


Other Responsibilities:

  • Function as a resource to help problem solve and answer research questions from all departments.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Research to provide project support, helping to encourage confidence in our agency’s research performance.


QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, market research, data science, or related field OR combination of appropriate work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in market research related role required.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, etc.) required.
  • Demonstrated excellent research and analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Required intermediate level use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with an overall passion for continual improvement.
  • Works well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret substantial amounts of data and to multi-task.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with secondary research software (e.g., Nielsen, MRI Simmons, others).
  • Experience using market research methods, such as surveys, focus groups, and interviews.
  • Experience with survey software (Qualtrics, Decipher, Alchemer, SPSS, others).
  • Preferred use of Microsoft Power BI, Project Management tools, Media buying programs and research tools
  • Agency experience preferred.

COMPENSATION

Butler/Till is committed to providing pay transparency of our compensation philosophy and ensuring equitable pay practices for our employee owners. The compensation range for this position is $54,000- $76,000 and represents the annual salary range in Rochester, NY. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.


This is just one component of Butler/Till’s total compensation package for employee owners. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including ESOP (employee stock ownership plan), an annual bonus, in addition to a full benefits package, and paid time off benefits, including 100% paid parental leave. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
