Communications and Programs Coordinator

 

The Woman’s National Democratic Club seeks a versatile professional to support our strategic communications and program management. Our dynamic organization is composed of more than 300 members dedicated to advancing Democratic values. We support progressive government by organizing engaging programs featuring policy experts and political leaders as well as by

collaborating with leading political action organizations.


The Communications and Programs Coordinator will join a five-member staff that manages the Club’s operations and historic facility, working with the Club’s leadership and committee

directors to develop and promote programs and events. The successful candidate will be a self- starter with communications and marketing experience, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks, projects, and priorities to meet

deadlines and achieve desired outcomes.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The position’s major functions include but are not limited to the following, as the demands of day-to-day operations may vary.


·     Work with the Communications Committee in developing comprehensive strategies to market events and programs.

·     Develop, post, and track the performance of emails, website updates, and social media posts.

·     Design and produce promotional materials, including copy and graphics (using Canva), in collaboration with program organizers, committee directors, and staff members.

·     Design and produce a monthly newsletter comprising articles and other content submitted by WNDC members and staff.

·     Coordinate with Communications Committee editors to review all WNDC materials and content for completeness and accuracy prior to release.

·     Collect and report on data to help Club leaders evaluate and enhance communication strategies.

·     Coordinate with the Director of Programs, event organizers, speakers, and special guests as appropriate to schedule available calendar dates and avoid duplication of topics.

·     Collaborate with the WNDC Facility and Events Manager, Member Services

Coordinator, and Senior Accountant to ensure the smooth rollout of events and programs, and attend programs and events as required for support.

·     Support museum and arts-related activities as needed.

·     Assists with the WNDC private client venue rental program as needed.

·     Support the Membership Services Coordinator in answering calls to the WNDC mainline and assisting members with tech support, program logistics, and other general services.

·     Intermittent work during early evening hours is required.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

·     2 years of experience in communications, branding, marketing, or public relations; nonprofit or membership organization experience preferred.

·     Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·     Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships, collaborate, and interact with WNDC leadership, colleagues, Club members and outside guests.

·     Ability to think creatively and generate innovative ideas for promoting events, developing content for the Club’s written communications and website, and keeping communications fresh and engaging.

·     Demonstrated organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.

·     Proficiency with communications tools, digital platforms, and software, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Canva, Buz Club Software, and audio-visual systems.



EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:

·      Job Type: Full-time

·      Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts; intermittent work during early evening hours is required.

·      Location: In-person

·      Salary Range: $47,500 - $55,000 annually

·      Benefits: Health insurance, dental insurance, 401(k) retirement savings plan, 11 paid holidays a year, vacation and sick leave program

·      Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

·      References will be required.
