Office/Financial Manager

Introduction: Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 21 is a craft union representing members employed in the construction industry. We work on everything from single family homes to nuclear power plants. This includes high rise buildings, schools, hospitals and factories. We provide industrial, commercial and residential construction, as well as Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) services.

Job Description: The Office/Financial Manager reports to the Business Manager and provides full-time administrative and financial support for the Union. This includes:

- bookkeeping and tax support

- serving as liaison to the accountant and auditors

- preparing and maintaining budgets, financial records and statements

- paying taxes, bills and benefits

- processing payroll

- updating the strategic plan

- accepting dues payments

- processing death benefits

- signing up new Union members and contractors

- providing reports to the United Association and New York State Pipe Trades

- organizing special events

- managing inventory and selling merchandise

- updating the website, app and social media

- coordinating all input to the monthly newsletter

- receiving visitors

- answering phone calls

- distributing mail

- performing other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Associates degree preferred – high school diploma or equivalent is required

- Knowledge of financial management, bookkeeping and accounting is required

- Knowledge of computer systems including QuickBooks, word processing, power point, and excel spreadsheets is required

- Good listening, writing and verbal communication skills are needed

- Attention to detail is important

- Good team building and collaboration skills are required

Other:

- This position handles confidential and privacy information. After a conditional offer is made, a background check and drug test are required.

- Occasional travel is required.
