Base pay range

$65,000.00/yr - $97,000.00/yr

This position supports all aspects of DC 37’s communications, including member communications, PEPtalk Magazine, website, social media, e-newsletter, graphic design, media relations, photography, and campaigns. Under the direction of the Director of Communications, this position will contribute to the creation and timely distribution of content used to support DC 37’s messaging and brand.

                                          

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Executes web, email, social media (paid and organic) and display advertising campaigns to promote DC 37’s programs and initiatives.
  • Contributes to strategic communications campaigns and carries out duties related to dissemination of information to members, the media and the public.
  • Manages the union’s social media accounts, develops content and responds to comments/messages with guidance from Director.
  • Evaluates metrics and effectiveness of digital media tactics; tracks and reports outcomes through Google and social analytics to help improve content and channel planning.
  • Supports the development of all print and digital content, including reporting and photography for quarterly news magazine, e-newsletter, and other member-facing materials.
  • Contributes to website and blog content; posts updates in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with the Director and team members to ensure content aligns with overall marketing communications strategy and has a consistent tone, style and voice that reflects the DC 37 brand.
  • Develops and contributes to an internal content calendar, including scheduling posts and sourcing, writing and editing content.
  • Collaborates with other team members and Departments on distribution and promotion of content across all marketing channels.
  • Stays current with industry trends in digital media communications and offer insights, helps formulate concepts and pitches ideas for new opportunities to evolve and improve marketing and branding efforts.


 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, English or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 5+ years professional experience in marketing and communications. 
  • 3+ years professional experience managing and moderating social media.
  • Well-organized and strong attention to detail and deadlines; ability to work both independently and in a team environment with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent grammar and writing ability. Robust digital writing skills with the ability to condense information and convey it clearly and concisely through social media.
  • A demonstrated ability to use online tools to communicate with, engage and motivate target groups to take action including social media, email and paid marketing.
  • Experience with graphic design and developing content across a variety of online and print channels; Working knowledge of Canva, Photoshop and Illustrator a plus.
  • Experience with front-end web and content management systems preferred, specifically WordPress.
  • Ability to travel locally for purposes of sourcing content.
