Goodfellow Bros. (GBI) is a large heavy-civil contractor with operations throughout the West Coast & Hawaii. Our company is a fourth generation, family-owned business, celebrating over 100 years in the industry! GBI has always maintained that our employees are our greatest asset, and we are now seeking to add to our team. We are looking for a Marketing Manager to join our team located in Maple Valley, WA.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Manager will play a vital role in executing key marketing initiatives, focusing primarily on proposal and collateral development for the organization. By applying creative and strategic insights, the Marketing Manager will enhance the pursuit process, positioning GBI as the contractor of choice to secure new opportunities. This role involves close collaboration with the operations and estimating teams to develop winning materials that clearly articulate a defined value proposition while ensuring consistent and engaging brand messaging.

This position is ideal for highly organized candidates with strong writing skills, a flair for creative thinking, and the ability to excel under deadlines while collaborating effectively with diverse teams to craft persuasive content and standout proposals.

This position offers a salary range of $80,000 to $120,000 annually.

Essential Functions

Marketing Pursuit Activities (75-85%)

  • Lead efforts to produce winning responses to RFQ/Ps and presentations to secure new work, including kick-off meetings, work plans, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to clearly define our value proposition and strategies to address specific project and/or client hot buttons/concerns/challenges.
  • Create effective layouts and develop content that is responsive to RFQ/RFP requirements; customize resumes and relevant projects as needed.
  • Prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent assignments to deliver materials that communicate clearly defined messages, quality, and branding while meeting production and delivery deadlines.
  • Ensure data capture and entry for regularly populating the CRM database and tracking opportunities.
  • Be a team player and provide excellent internal and external client service.
  • Efficiently research potential projects and clients.
  • Effectively write/edit technical text.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain proposal library and boilerplate content.

Additional Activities (15-25%)

  • Lead and create the development of additional marketing content, including brochures, case studies, project profiles, and the company newsletter.
  • Work closely with project teams to create compelling narratives around key projects and achievements.
  • Complete website updates
  • Other tasks as assigned

Required Education, Experience, And Technical Knowledge

  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in the US without employer sponsorship
  • 5-7 years of experience in marketing and business development, preferably within the A/E/C or a related industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, journalism, communications or similar
  • Marketing and proposal development experience (preferably for A/E/C or a professional services industry)
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • High level of initiative - Self-starter
  • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign; Photoshop) proficiency and MS Office required.
  • Experience in crafting promotional materials, reports, presentations, and business communications
  • The ability to maintain and foster positive team and coworker relationships
  • Experience working directly with senior staff on business-critical projects with minimal supervision
