DESIGN ASSOCIATE

Position: Marketing Design Associate

Organizational Relationship

Reports to: Director of Marketing Technology, Marketing Director

Coordinates with: Marketing Manager

Summary Of Responsibilities

The Marketing Design Associate translates strategic marketing goals into compelling design assets that elevate the Zoo’s brand and engage its target audiences. The Design Associate works closely with the department leaders to create content that supports multi-channel initiatives while adhering to the Zoo’s brand standards.

EPZ Team Member Responsibilities

• Uphold the Zoo’s mission of fostering an appreciation for wildlife and the environment that will inspire active participation in conservation.
• Understand all Zoo department policies and procedures.
• Adhere to Zoo confidentiality standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook regarding customers, animals, business operations, employees, volunteers, and any/all sensitive information.
• Assist in creating a safe, clean and efficient working environment throughout the Zoo.
• Interact cordially and communicate clearly with the public.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Design marketing collateral, including digital ads, emails, landing pages, brochures, signage, event materials, and basic motion/short-form video.
• Contribute to the creation of content for social media channels.
• Manage updates to the Zoo’s website and online accounts, including event listings, animal ID pages, and programs.
• Update the Zoo’s weekly email newsletter.
• Produce quick-turnaround operational signage on an as-needed basis.
• Support data collection efforts to as directed by the Director of Marketing Technology and Marketing Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communication or related field.
• At least 1 to 3 years of design experience. Internship experience is acceptable.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign; After Effects a plus) and Canva or similar collaborative design tools.
• Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS for email or web design is a plus.
• Solid understanding of typography, layout, UX/UI principles, and color theory.
• Ability to manage concurrent projects, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
• Self-starter, able to work independently.
• Knowledge of Zoos and/or nonprofit organizations is a plus.
  
  

Pay and Identification

Salary Range: $30,000 – $35,000

Identification: Two forms of official valid identification are required. Ability to pass background and child abuse clearances.
