DC Theater Arts (DCTA)
Part-time, remote (within the DC–Maryland–Virginia region preferred)
DC Theater Arts is dedicated to sustaining the future of theater journalism in the DC–Maryland–Virginia region. We celebrate, critique, and champion the art and artists of theater at every scale—from community stages to major institutions. Advertising is one of our most important revenue streams, and we’re seeking an Advertising & Digital Sales Coordinator to help manage and grow this effort.
This position oversees the full cycle of ad sales—from outreach and client communication to campaign scheduling, posting, invoicing, and reporting. The ideal candidate combines strong organizational skills, a professional and friendly communication style, and a working familiarity with digital tools used in marketing and publishing.
Responsibilities
- Identify and contact potential advertisers (theaters, venues, festivals, and producers).
- Sell and manage website, social media, and newsletter ads.
- Write and post social media ads when clients do not provide copy.
- Upload and manage ad placements in WordPress using the Advanced Ads plugin.
- Maintain accurate campaign records in Google Sheets and Google Calendar.
- Invoice and collect payments via PayPal, ensuring all ads are tracked and marked paid.
- Deliver ad performance analytics and reports to clients.
- Communicate clearly with clients—many of whom are new to digital advertising—helping them meet image, link, and deadline requirements.
- Recommend updates to the ad rate sheet and offerings as DCTA evolves.
Qualifications
- Experience in marketing, communications, or theater publicity.
- Strong written communication skills, including copywriting for social media.
- Proficiency with WordPress, Google Workspace, Canva or GIMP, and PayPal invoicing.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and client service.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a virtual environment.
Details
- Schedule: Flexible, approximately 10 hours per week.
- Location: Remote; applicants in the DC–Maryland–Virginia area preferred.
- Compensation: $600/month base pay plus 6% commission on all ad sales.
- Reports to: Executive Director (or designee).
