Position Purpose
The Brick Industry Association (BIA) is seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator (Coordinator) to execute, monitor, and measure BIA’s marketing and communications efforts. The Coordinator should be an excellent writer and have experience in social media and graphic design. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is energetic, organized, creative, and self-motivated individual who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative work.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of marketing and branding campaigns for various programs and events, including membership recruitment, and make recommendations for implementation.
- Research competitive products, and draft factual language to promote the benefits of clay brick over competitive products.
- Stay up to date with cladding market trends.
- Draft press releases to promote clay brick, significant industry or national developments, etc.
- Assist in producing BIA’s monthly membership newsletter, Brick News Online
- Assists Communications & Social Media Specialist in the execution of BIA’s social media strategy, influencer campaigns, content creation, and SEO/SEM optimization.
- Design and edit graphics for email or web as needed, develop compelling website content and landing pages to support BIA’s marketing campaigns, and assist with keeping the website up to date.
- Responsible for maintaining BIA’s marketing and communications schedule.
- Pursues opportunities to create cross-departmental marketing opportunities that reduce costs.
- Assists with the execution of the Marketing, Sales & Training Committee initiatives.
- Provides support to and attends national, regional, local council, and program committee meetings and events.
- Assists with the annual Brick in Architecture Awards competition.
- Draft PowerPoint presentations, speeches, and other materials for BIA meetings, speaker introductions, award ceremonies, etc.
- Brick University oversight and support to BIA Members
- Coordinate and execute e-mail campaigns, meeting deadlines, following timelines, and ensuring uniformity of content/messaging
- Develop surveys to external audiences and BIA members
- Draft a communications strategy to disseminate information to members on BIA initiatives
- Additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in communications, marketing, or journalism.
- 2-4 years experience in digital marketing, social media management, content creation, and communications work.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn) campaigns, boosting and working with influencers.
- Familiarity with, SurveyMonkey, Constant Contact, and Adobe Creative Cloud programs, such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
- Graphic Design experience.
- Website content management systems (CMS) experience.
- Must be highly self-directed, well-organized, possess excellent attention to detail, be disciplined, able to multi-task, and comfortable completing tasks with minimum supervision.
- Strong organization/decision-making/time management skills to effectively adhere to shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic required.
- Video production and editing, email marketing, and website design experience are a plus.
The position will report to BIA’s VP of Membership & Programs in Reston, Virginia, and may work remotely with occasional in-office workdays or a hybrid home/office work schedule if located near Reston, Virginia.
