As a Communication Designer, you will be a key partner to our design research and product teams. You will translate research findings and product ideas into expertly crafted human-perspective stories via digestible formats and media for a diverse range of audiences and/or settings (from full-day presentations/workshops to 30 min calls with C-suite executives).
Our ideal candidate is passionate about creating highly intuitive, beautifully crafted, well-communicated media campaigns and stories that speak to the hearts and minds of our users. A communication designer takes deep analytical dives into data mined from our emotion-driven research methodology and the latest cutting edge insights on research and design to create engaging content and media.
We are looking forward to having our newest Feather join us! We expect this role to be based in San Diego, California, but we are open to remote opportunities with flexibility to travel as needed on a case by case. Our team currently works in the office with the flexibility to work from home when applicable.

YOUR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Crafting quality work in the mediums of advertising, conceptual campaigns, product launches, branding, photography, film, and video
- Collaborating with a global team of design researchers, content writers, UX designers, business leaders, and subject-matter experts in a fast-paced environment
- Participating with research team to diverge, converge and absorb research and key insights
- Translating and synthesizing research insights into meaningful stories through visuals, videos/motions, and written content
- Tailoring and communicating work to a diverse audience through presentations, workshops, or other storytelling formats
- Spearhead Round Feather’s’s internal and external communication initiatives (such as social media and newsletter) accordingly
YOUR SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in the field of Human-Centered Design, Design Thinking, Communication Design, Social Sciences, and other relevant fields.
- 1+ years of work experience.
- Demonstrate keen interest in research and design, along with a passion for learning about human behavior.
- Insight-driven approach to the creation of the different media: demonstrated work/school experience in translating data and research findings and formatting into a compelling, informative, client-facing package, which can include visual frameworks, presentation design, prototyping, videos etc
- You have a talent for developing elevated aesthetics, visually cohesive media, and the ability to tell a powerful story through the work.
- Motion design and video editing skills, experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and/or After Effects
- Skills include augmenting video footage with storytelling visuals (imagery, animation, titles, etc.), cleaning video and audio footage (removing background noise, other noises, reframing clips, etc.)
- Visual/graphic design skills with experience with Figma, Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Proficient using Mac systems and Google Suite, especially Google Slides and Keynote
