What You'll Do...
H&R Block is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Manager to support our Global Consumer Tax organization. Reporting to the Director, Field and Executive Communications, the ideal candidate should be a fierce project manager – able to keep several tasks on track while making sure all stakeholders are informed throughout the process. We’re also looking for someone with a passion for managing events with the skills to carry a brand message through the entire event experience from location selection and decor, to content, giveback events and more. In addition to this expertise, the candidate should be a strong communicator with the ability to write inspiring content and recommend the best channel strategy to deliver messages effectively.
As a Communications Manager you will:
- Create and deliver event experiences that showcase H&R Block’s brand purpose, convey compelling stories and showcase content in a customer-centric way.
- Collaborate with leaders in Global Consumer Tax to align on business impact, event strategy and audience targets to drive outcomes that deliver against key metrics.
- Be flexible and agile changing from physical to virtual and hybrid events.
- Create content that informs and inspires action, whether in written, visual, or video form.
- Work with leadership and internal partners to develop a data-driven listening strategy to guide future communications with our Global Consumer Tax organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Contributes creative ideas to program planning, that provide branded experiences aligned with H&R Block’s purpose to provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere. This includes ideas about locations, agendas, themes, and content.
- Partners with senior leaders and internal business partners to define event objectives, schedules, required resources and measurements of success for all events. Develops presentation proposals to senior leaders and other internal stakeholders, as appropriate.
- Conducts site searches, evaluation, hotel selection in collaboration with agency partners.
- Plans and organizes meetings as assigned, including logistics management in collaboration with agency partners, as well as leading content development and managing the overall event experience.
- Travels to major meetings as required, managing the event comprehensively from hotel logistics to content delivery.
- Actively participates in staff and program committee meetings and planning sessions.
- Writes effective communications that reach more than 60,000 seasonal associates.
- Creates newsletter, video, infographic and other forms of content as needed.
What You'll Bring To The Team...
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or related field.
- Five years’ experience managing both communications, creating content, and managing events.
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts in written, verbal, and visual form
- Ability to make objective decisions using sound judgment
- Ability to manage several projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work under pressure, follow through on assignments and balance competing priorities.
