What You Will Do
The Newsletter Strategist is responsible for development of a portfolio of newsletters to engage and build loyal, local audiences in service of supporting and expanding the digital subscription business.
- Develop strategy and tactics in service of audience growth, engagement, acquisition and reach.
- Ability to analyze MNG’s current newsletter strategy and offer data-driven recommendations about what works best with newsletter in each of our markets.
- Determine the best KPIs for measuring newsletter success and then working to meet those goals.
- Oversee overall list management and health.
- Research and develop best practices as it relates to email service providers and what works best for emails to be easily found by readers.
- Assist local editorial teams in assessing what newsletters to launch, what newsletters to kill and how to improve existing newsletter strategy.
- Well-organized and able to manage complex projects involving various internal stakeholders and outside vendors.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the company.
- Demonstrate understanding of email user psychology, behavioral economics, and user experience trends.
- Partner with leadership in Editorial, Sales, and Marketing to drive subscriber acquisition and engagement.
What You Will Bring
- 2+ years of experience in a strategy or product management role.
- Experience writing, editing or managing email newsletters.
- Familiar with newsletter best practices, newsletter platforms and analytics, publishing tools, analytics tools and social marketing technology and platforms.
- Strong experience researching trends in the newsletter space and identifying new opportunities.
- Ease with communicating to people in technical and non-technical roles.
- You demonstrate a passion for creating outstanding solutions and continuing self-education.
- Familiarity working with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics.
This is a fully remote position (within the US).
The annual salary range is $65,000 - $80,000. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
