Fit Family Challenge (FFC) was established in 2010 to improve the health and wellness of San Antonio families living in areas with high rates of diabetes and obesity. FFC provides adults and children with routine, family-friendly physical activity, nutrition education and health screenings to support a healthy lifestyle. FFC is conducted for 12 weeks each summer and consists of free in-person and virtual weekday group fitness classes and three 5K runs.
San Antonio Sports (SAS) is seeking hardworking, team-oriented individuals to join the youth and community programs department as a seasonal Fit Family Challenge Public Relations Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be a highly detailed individual with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to function well in a team environment. This position should expect to spend 50% of time in the office and 50% of time staffing assigned weekly fitness sites.
The Public Relations Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day execution of the program’s social media marketing initiatives across all FFC social channels. In addition, this position will have the opportunity to learn more about the marketing, programming, and event management process that SAS executes in order deliver high quality events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
•Manage set-up, registration, check-in, and execution at assigned weekly in-person or virtual fitness classes
•Contribute to the social media calendar and bi-weekly newsletter
•Create content that promotes audience presence and drives traffic to direct websites and encourages audience engagement
•Coordinate with program director to meet all sponsor fulfillment
•Stay up to date with all elements of the event and prepare detailed weekly updates for staff
•Assist with administrative functions as needed
•Other duties/tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Currently pursuing or completed bachelor’s degree
•Must have the ability to work evening, weekend hours and three 5Ks
•Ability to lift and move 25 pounds and stand for up to 6 hours
•Must have reliable transportation to travel to the SAS office and event locations
•Fluency in Spanish is appreciated
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Understanding of digital and social media trends, platforms, and marketing strategies
HOURS & PAY:
This is a seasonal position with 15-20 hours per week. Candidate must be able to work late April through mid-August and must be available on three 5K dates (May 6, June 17 and August 5). This position pays $12 per hour.
