We’re rapidly growing and looking for a Daily Newsletter Writer to join our team on a contract basis (2-4x per week). If that sounds like a dream gig, read on to learn more about the role.
Who We Are
The CRE Daily is a digital media company providing approachable commentary on the most relevant news, economic trends, and transactions in commercial real estate, with a touch of humor and memes.
We deliver this through our flagship product (The CRE Daily), a free daily newsletter published Tuesday-Friday, that keeps 80,000+ real estate investors, brokers, developers, and deal junkies informed on the latest trends and transactions in commercial real estate.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, well-sourced writer who is passionate about commercial real estate and can summarize complex stories in as few words as possible in a way that is actually enjoyable to read (and who doesn't skip over key details because they're rushing).
You're comfortable writing about commercial real estate and/or finance because you work or have worked in the industry and frequently read publications like The Wall Street Journal, Globe St., Bloomberg, or The Real Deal.
What You'll Do
- Summarize 3 longer stories and 15-20 short snippets into your own words for the daily newsletter (which runs 4x per week, Tuesdays through Fridays)
- Distill complicated financial and real estate jargon into easy-to-understand, everyday English that is witty and fun to read
- Place newsletter content within a Google Doc template, following our formatting guidelines
- Conduct as-needed independent research to flesh out stories if sources are lacking, hit your daily deadlines (each issue of the newsletter will be assigned by 12 pm and due by 4 pm ET), and be responsive if we ask for edits or clarification.
NOTE: You do not have to come up with daily story ideas, we will send you the stories to summarize in our daily template by 12 pm ET.
