Chicken & Egg Pictures is seeking an Industry & Artist Development Manager to join our program team. This position will manage our programs geared toward providing Chicken & Egg Pictures (C&E) supported filmmakers with career-building opportunities, new networks, resources, and a vibrant community to deepen their craft and further develop their projects.

What You’ll Do
This is a mid-level position that reports to the Program Director and works closely with every member of the C&E team, as well as donors and industry partners. The position will supervise an intern and/or a temporary event production staff member for Doc Nest.
As the managing a series of programs geared towards building community and connecting filmmakers with the documentary industry and funders, you will be responsible for engaging our 400+ AlumNest filmmakers.
Working closely with your fellow program staff to develop AlumNest and Doc Nest programs, your responsibilities will include:
- Create and manage a menu of year-round workshops, panels, and masterclasses that speak to film projects at various stages from development through production, and post-production/impact, as well as honing craft, financial education, and community building opportunities.
- Create and manage the content of the AlumNest programming page on the C&E website and the AlumNest newsletter, where events are promoted and opportunities are shared.
- Foster ongoing relationships between filmmakers and documentary industry funders, leaders, and other supporters, including managing requests for industry referrals, recommendations, and introductions.
- Spearhead inclusion of producers of C&E-supported projects into the AlumNest.
- Assess the current AlumNest network and gather and maintain contact information, career developments and project statuses.
- Plan and manage Doc Nest, our annual all-day convening that brings together filmmakers, potential supporters, and industry representatives in order to open doors to C&E-supported filmmakers, increasing their access to resources and opportunities.
- Identify filmmakers and industry representatives throughout the year to participate in Doc Nest.
- Continue to nurture and track relationships between filmmakers and industry representatives/potential supporters following Doc Nest.
- Program-wide responsibilities
- Manage budgets, timelines, and logistics for AlumNest and Doc Nest.
- Represent C&E in public forums and meetings, building industry relationships and collaborations.
- Research and implement inclusive processes that are in line with organizational DEIA and anti-racism values across programs under purview.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager in evaluation activities for programs under purview.
- Participate in film/filmmaker review and selection processes, where appropriate.
- Work on other projects and tasks, as needed.
Who You Are

You have significant experience, likely at least 5+ years in the documentary field, and 2 years working as a filmmaker and/or manager at an artist development organization, production company, distributor, or film festival.
- Film and Media Industry: Knowledge of the documentary filmmaking landscape, including production and distribution entities, film festivals, pitch markets, and artist development institutions. You keep abreast of news and trends, and “who is doing what.”
- Film Funding: Knowledge of the current film funding landscape and models for documentary film.
- Event Management: Significant experience executing and managing events, workshops and/or panels.
- Film Submission Review: Experience reviewing film submissions for programs and/or festivals.
- Artist Development: An understanding of the challenges that filmmakers face and the kinds of opportunities that would be beneficial for the ongoing professional development of documentary directors and producers.
- Network: Experience building relationships and partnerships in the documentary field, US and globally, and will bring your extensive industry networks to the position.
- Event Development: Experience designing events, such as workshops and panels, to expand filmmakers’ skills and knowledge, and to build relationships and community.
- Artistic Sensibility: Experience providing feedback to filmmakers and a keen eye for potential film projects.
- External Representation: Experience representing an organization as a speaker and moderator at industry events, such as panels, markets, and festivals.
- Project Management Skills: You are adept at managing and executing complex projects that require ingenuity, attention to detail, and accuracy. Your approach to the work is methodical, detail-oriented, creative, and enthusiastic.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: You consider relationship building and networking with a diverse range of people to be one of your strongest talents. You have the ability to manage sensitive situations with care, maturity, and professionalism.

Location and Hybrid Work Policy:
This position is based in NYC. Staff are working a hybrid schedule with a standard schedule of at least two days a week in our Brooklyn office.
Chicken & Egg Pictures offers a salary informed by the organization’s Total Rewards Philosophy and Practices, which is grounded in market data. The salary range for this full-time position is $65,000-$77,000. Actual salary from the range above will be based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
100% premium coverage of health, dental, and vision insurance, plus life and short and long-term disability insurances. Flexible spending accounts for medical and transit expenses. A 403(b) plan with a matching employer contribution. Annually 15 vacation days (20 at the two-year mark), 10 safe and sick leave days, and 3 personal days.
