Description:
WES is seeking a detailed-oriented Social Media Specialist and Web Producer. In this role, you will develop organic social content that generate high levels of engagement across multiple platforms. You will contribute to influencer strategies by managing content, relationships, and day-to-day drafting and publication of media posts and scheduling. You will also have a high degree of comfort with WordPress, professional communication skills, and knowledge of basic SEO standards and practices. The role requires good writing skills, exacting attention to accuracy and tone, close collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams, and the ability to master complex subject matter. It also requires a high level of comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment while providing stakeholders with a high-level service.
The ideal candidate has both organic and paid social experience, knowledge of WordPress, and an interest in analytics across multiple platforms. Experience in newsroom environments and familiarity with journalistic standards and ethics are a plus.
Duties included but not limited to:
The incumbent will:
· Manage all social impact-related social media accounts daily - listen, coordinate with and ensure approval of stakeholders, draft copy, fact check, work with design for visual assets, coordinate with SI Marketing
· Participate in internal briefings, creative brainstorms, daily social media check ins, and report outs of results, etc.
· Develop and maintain influencer strategy documents, influencer target lists; conduct and manage as-needed research to recommend relevant influencers for multiple programs and initiatives
· Build and maintain relationships through social media
· In coordination with Comms Managers and Associates, develop social media plans for release of every major WES publication, policy statement, blog posts, etc.
· Report on SM performance
· Work within existing Content Management Systems (CMS) to build out landing pages, oversee content updates to web pages, and manage other day-t- day web production responsibilities as needed
· Research and analyze metrics from the CMS to assess webpage performance
· Work with Content Writers to optimize SEO keywords and increase website traffic
· Write web copy, newsletter copy, and marketing copy as assigned
· Participate in internal briefings, creative brainstorms, and report outs of results, etc.
· As needed:
o Provide writing and proof-reading support to communications managers and associates
o Provide research support for media requests and FAQs
o Provide assistance with social media management, listening, and influencer list
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in PR, journalism, communications, marketing, or equivalent combination; or education and experience
· 2+ years of experience in social media communications or marketing role
· Exceptional writing skills and obsessive attention to accuracy
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Highly collaborative with an innate ability to build relationships across teams and sectors
· The ability to master complex subject matter and render it into compelling, pithy statements
· Technical / professional skills and competencies such as Google Suite, Office Professional Suite, WordPress, HootSuite, etc.
· Knowledge of SEO, paid search, and social media best practices
· Experience working with content management systems
· Curiosity mindset
· Interest or experience in international education, immigration, workforce development
· Ability to perform efficiently in a high pressure, fast paced environment
· Bilingualism is an asset (English/French)
