MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
The Chicago Center for Urban Life and Culture seeks a dynamic self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for an established urban experiential education organization.
The primary responsibility of the Marketing and Communications Intern is to support the promotion of organizational initiatives, recruitment, and ongoing communication with alumni, prospective students, donors, and staff. Other duties may also be assigned as needed.
This role will work in a hybrid work arrangement, with some days spent working in our office in beautiful Hyde Park in Chicago, and some days spent working from home. COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement for all positions at the Chicago Center. New hires are expected to be fully vaccinated before beginning work at the Chicago Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with updating and maintaining CCULC’s social media presence, with special attention to building CCULC’s presence on Tik Tok
Assist in planning, writing, managing monthly newsletter
Assist with the design of flyers, graphics, and other marketing material as assigned
Assist with updating the CCULC website when needed
Collaborate with staff on new ideas and directions for marketing and communications
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Graphic Design
Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space, proven experience with Tik Tok is a plus
Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Working knowledge of Hubspot (or similar CRM).
An effective communicator, both written and oral
Ability to communicate in a professional manner
Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
Enthusiasm for the mission of the Chicago Center
