About You
You are an experienced leader with a strong orientation towards strategic thinking and data-driven decision making. You have a proven record of developing close partnerships with finance and operations teams to ensure that the organization is meeting and exceeding company goals. You are experienced in successfully working with marketing teams to align product campaigns and business objectives with changing inventory positions. You are a strong leader, both managing and developing your own team, as well as throughout the organization and you are looking for an opportunity to bring teams together to optimize cross-functional processes. You have experience with a large variety of product categories including beauty, wellness, and fashion; and you have hands-on experience planning inventory for short lead-time replenishment businesses, as well as longer lead-time made-to-order businesses.
About The Role
As the Director of Merchandise Planning and Allocation you will be responsible for leading a team of two merchandise planners and one allocation analyst in developing sales and inventory plans across eight categories of business for all of goop’s sales channels. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and work with cross-functional peers to ensure full understanding of business performance, as well as current and future inventory position.
- Responsible for leading a team of merchandise planners in forecasting revenue, gross margin, and inventory for all categories of business (ie. beauty, wellness, fashion, home) and across all sales channels including eCommerce, Wholesale, Retail, and Amazon/marketplaces.
- Disseminate clear and consolidated performance reporting for all lines of business and all sales channels on a regular basis. In partnership with finance, create monthly performance presentations with concise takeaways for the executive team.
- Maintain company-level open-to-buy and review regularly to ensure all categories of business and sales channels have realistic forecasts that adequately capture marketing plans, recent performance, company initiatives and strategic goals, and ensure that all cross-functional partners are aligned to their business and/or sales channel targets. Where necessary, work with sales channel partners to bring sales forecasts and inventory positions in line with marketing and promotional plans.
- Provide strategic recommendations to channel partners on how to optimize the company’s inventory position, mitigate risks of out of stock or excess liability, and achieve financial targets.
- Oversee and support merchandise planners in the new product demand forecasting efforts for goop branded products (Beauty, Wellness, Fashion) to ensure all forecasts and final supply plans are created in alignment with marketing, merchandising, and finance.
- Develop retail revenue plans for all doors in partnership with Retail Operations team and manage retail allocation analyst in supporting the buying and allocating of inventory to physical retail locations.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of merchandise planning experience; preferably with leadership experience in high-growth startups operating across multiple sales channels including eCommerce, wholesale, retail and Amazon.
- Highly collaborative with exceptional relationship management skills and a history of successfully building cross-functional partnerships and processes that lead to impactful organizational change.
- Strong people leader that can develop and mentor a team of talented merchandise planners and allocation analysts.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to build and deliver presentations to various levels of the organization.
- Experience owning the implementation of ERP-based planning tools, including NetSuite Planning & Allocation modules.

FAQ
- Compensation: $125,000 - $175,000 + Equity. Please note that this range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for the Los Angeles, CA based position. Goop, in good faith, reasonably expects to pay the position within this salary range. Goop provides the salary range in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws. The actual base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience, training, knowledge and skills, and if the location of the job changes.
