Growing LGBTQI+ health equity organization looking for Communications Specialist to help us share our stories, our successes, and our impact. The right person will help us manage rebuild of our website, assemble our annual reports, and create a steady flow of engaging stakeholder interactions via social media, newsletters, and traditional media opportunities. Representative Duties
Development & oversight of annual communications plan
- In collaboration with the staff team, leads the development of the Networks annual communications plan - including specific and measurable targets for social media, newsletter, earned media, annual report and news releases
- Responsible for for overseeing the execution of the communications plan - including drafting newsletters, overseeing social media calendar and drafting posts, curating content for annual report and the Network website
- Oversees the redevelopment of the Network’s website, including the recreation and/or migration of existing content, and the development of new content areas for the site
- Engages entire staff team in communications planning, ensuring that Network programming is widely promoted and that grant deliverables specific to communications and media are met and that these are documented
- Implement communications vehicles to create momentum and awareness about our work, using data to shape future messaging and to align our communications to specific audiences
- Serves as main point of contact for graphic design vendor, negotiating and communicating internal deadlines and needs to our team
Supports staff team to identify and leverage media opportunities
- Works collaboratively with the team to identify “news-worthy” items for promotion on social media or with traditional media outlets
- Develops and maintains knowledge of Network programming and seeks out opportunities to promote our work in various media outlets
- Distributes Network’s media resources to partners in order to support local tobacco and cancer control policy initiatives, LGBTQ+ health equity, and data collection
Qualifications
- Minimum two years experience in media or communications, preferably with a nonprofit organization
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of LGBTQ+ communities via a personal or professional context
- Demonstrated facility with web platforms, including Constant Contact, Airtable, Microsoft and Google Suites
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and computer skills
- Outstanding communication skills - written and verbal
- Experience and interest in working with different disparity populations in the LGBTQ+ arena
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a growing team, manage details and meet established deadlines
This position is permanently remote. Salary is est at 60-70k depending on experience. The National LGBT Cancer Network provides generous benefits.
