USTA Foundation Incorporated (USTAF or USTA Foundation), the national charitable arm of the United States Tennis Association Incorporated (USTA), utilizes the powerful combination of tennis and education to enhance the lives of under-resourced youth through its support of the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network. For more than 50 years, NJTL has impacted thousands of under-resourced youth across the nation, and today the network features more than 270 chapters that reach more than 110,000 young people in diverse communities annually.
USTAF seeks a Manager, NJTL Services & Communications to manage its efforts to strengthen the program impact and sustainability of its National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network of 270+ youth organizations. The position will play a critical role in the identification of capacity building, training, business and organizational development resources for the NJTL network. The individual will also be responsible for the management of all aspects of USTAF communications to the NJTL Network.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates customer needs and curates services, grant disbursements and peer learning opportunities geared to build and enhance organizational capacity of the Foundation’s network of 270+ youth organizations.
- Establish strong professional relationships with NJTLs to understand customer (chapter, parent, and participant) needs, areas of opportunity to support, and ensure established criteria and reporting requirements are met.
- Manage service providers and vendors to provide direct technical assistance, host workshops and training programs, presentation of webinars, and production of tools and resources for NJTL practitioners.
- Manage an NJTL Advisory Group of Executive Directors, Fundraising and Program staff representing chapters of different levels, members of which inform and offer critical feedback on USTAF resources designed to improve organizational capacity, participant engagement and retention.
- Review, monitor and make adjustments as needed to USTAF’s new Gold, Silver and Bronze levels criteria against capacity building and program goals to incentivize best practices and maximize impact across the NJTL network.
- Manage USTAF’s initiative to develop a College and Career Readiness in collaboration with a third party to improve short and longer term sports based youth development outcomes and expand school partnerships.
- Manage the NJTL customer journey for potential, new and existing chapters and network members
- Leverage Salesforce and other identified tools to refine, track and evaluate capacity building program data to demonstrate impact in support of continued improvement of the programming and fundraising goals.
- Work with USTA Customer Care to maximize customer support resources to improve the overall NJTL experience and level of support.
- Play an important role on the project team for the USTAF’s Impact Conference and development of an annual youth leadership summit.
- Manage a portfolio of grants to support NJTL Capacity Building, growth, sustainability and court infrastructure.
- Works diligently in support of Program & Services annual Operating plan goals and objectives and the USTA Foundation five-year strategic plan goals.
- Work with USTA Marketing and outside resources to drive the development of collateral materials, newsletter content and additional messaging to support adoption of USTAF funded resources.
- Serve as the center of content collection for USTAF Programs & Services accomplishments to support network communications, storytelling, stakeholder engagement and fundraising goals.
- Manage all USTAF to NJTL Network communications to ensure a consistent and clear voice.
Qualifications
- BA college degree and/or relevant experience.
- 5 years’ experience with non-profit organizations whose missions support low-income youth a plus.
- High level of strategic thinking with the ability to multitask and supervise.
- Must have experience building a non-profit organization, both in programs, revenue and overall impact.
- Previous experience as a board member of a non-profit organization is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability and understanding of best practices in nonprofit management and board governance.
- Ability to design, implement and measure effective and relevant capacity building tools, services and resources to support youth development programs.
- Experience with large scale, national corporate donor activations and employee engagement initiatives is a plus.
- An understanding of challenges, meaningful community engagement practices and ways to effect positive change in marginalized communities, together with an ability to effectively engage individuals working on the ground in distant locations.
- Experience designing and executing trainings, symposiums, summits or conferences for large groups in-person and virtually is a plus.
- Must have understanding of budget management in the non-profit context.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
- Competent presenter to various individuals and groups.
- Ability to create and sustain highly effective strategic partnerships and relationships.
- Advanced competency on G-Suite products, Microsoft Office Applications, and CRM tools. Experience with Salesforce, Novatus, and Concur is a plus.
This position is designated as "hybrid/flex" in Los Angeles, CA and may allow for both remote and on-site work. Any such position must meet the current USTA hybrid/flex requirements as updated from time to time. Please consult HR for the most current policy.
Pay range in the United States
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
Base salary
$94,000-115,000 annual salary
This is a full-time, Exempt position intended to work 35 hours per week.
