MARKETING INTERN – GRAPHIC DESIGN & CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
Our marketing intern will play an important role in helping to document and communicate O’Connell Electric’s story to our stakeholders and throughout the communities we live and work. The right candidate for this position will have a strong interest in graphic design with the desire to work in all facets of corporate communications.
This position will actively support a small marketing team in meeting various corporate communications objectives across six offices. It will be hosted in our corporate headquarters with some travel required to job sites and offices across NY State. The tasks listed below include but are not limited to duties that may be required based on marketing and communication needs.
- Conduct research for copywriting.
- Make updates to company’s website and intranet.
- Assist in developing and maintaining standard marketing materials including advertisements, resumes, project write-ups, etc. and maintain file system.
- Re-format and edit copy for different media channels, including brochure updates, project qualification packages, corporate newsletter, email newsletter, etc.
- Develop schedule and manage graphic assets for social media posts.
- Monitor and report website and social media analytics.
- Plan schedule and execute digital presentations via office display system.
- Develop and update spreadsheets/data bases as directed.
- Provide marketing communications support to project managers as needed.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Assist with creating newsletters – requires interviewing, writing, graphic design, etc.
- Provide graphic design support for project signage, labels, etc.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Degree in business administration, marketing, graphic design, or any combination of.
- Coursework in graphic design.
- Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
- Fundamental knowledge of marketing communications
Additional Requirements
- Outgoing personality and strong work ethic.
- A curious mindset to understand the dynamics of corporate culture and how strong design and communications strategies play an important role.
- Interest in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of photography and editing is a plus.
