General Summary
The Director of Community Outreach is responsible for raising awareness and improving community knowledge of Erie FCU in our community. This individual is actively involved in Financial Literacy, Business Development and Community/Business Relations. Specifically, the Director of Community Outreach manages the tactical details of the credit union's youth programs and outreach initiatives. Presents and explains the benefits of credit union products and services at partner and community events. This individual will assist in developing and enhancing relationships with our Business Affinity Program partners (BAP.) This involves prospecting for new partnership opportunities, making business and consumer presentations. Actively partner and collaborate with Branch personnel to develop branch outreach initiatives based on branch neighborhood and branch consumer base

Essential Functions
- Collaborate, develop and assist in implementing high impact and quantifiable BAP strategies and tactics with key sponsors & partner organizations that support the credit union's member acquisition goals, enhance product/service utilization and drive traffic to Erie FCU branches.
- Manage and grow all Financial Literacy Training Programs/initiatives. Develop relationships with target school officials, community leaders and community groups that share the same common goal of financial education and the importance of saving and spending wisely. Schedule, organize materials for learning sessions, develop and improve the curriculum, and with the Marketing team, develop the marketing materials for the program.
- Engage with community youth programs; this includes creating materials, program maintenance and special kids' club events.
- Assist in identifying high potential prospects utilizing market and competitor research, employee counts, membership eligibility and site accessibility.
- Develop seminar and educational workshops.
- Assist Marketing team as needed in organizing the details of credit union events, based upon the goals, timeline, and budget set by the CMO.
- Assist Director of Marketing Communications in planning Financial Literacy content for the appropriate social media, namely Facebook, and Twitter (IE, Sallie Mae, Student Loan information).
- Work with Branch Managers/other staff to leverage relationships in the community and expand market visibility by creating standardized expectations of staff engagement for event participation.
- Organize and plan programs that promote good will and fosters relationships with community/business leaders. Establishing high standards of excellence, honesty, integrity and professionalism in community relations.
- Identify and suggest effective community relations programs and events, including sponsorship opportunities through local chambers of commerce. Coordinate high profile community events, including staffing, promotion and expense oversight for these events.
- Assist in maintaining the credit union website with fresh content and suggest site improvement recommendations to the CMO.
- Assist in visiting neighborhood partners.
- Assist with the transportation of event materials, event set-up, tear-downs, and clean up prior to and at the end of events.
- Renew the pursuit of grants to fund financial literacy initiatives.
- Work closely with the CMO and other credit union personnel on areas of partner/community outreach, market segmentation and targeting, competitor analysis, marketing material development and other strategies to improve the credit union's presentment and effectiveness in the marketplace.
- Represent Erie FCU at on-site events, industry and other civic/public relations activities as necessary to support the credit union's business objectives. Promotes features and benefits of Credit Union's products and services through on-site visits to educate existing and potential members.
- Demonstrates self-motivation and takes initiative in supporting relationship building with key community groups and individuals for long-term and short-term support of initiatives.
- Establish metrics to analyze the success and overall value delivered by primary Financial Literacy and Community Outreach programs. Analyze whether each initiative is achieving intended objectives. Based on metrics and outcome, recommend steps for continuation of program, immediate improvement, reduction in budget, or elimination from future credit union budgets.
- Develop and deliver professional presentations to promote the benefits of credit union membership at external organization staff meetings, new employee orientations, and other special events as requested. Create objectives for each presentation and document the achievement of key objectives.
- Assist with identifying opportunities and trends through Symitar, Marquis and other software based programs.
- Submit articles and photography, when possible, for the quarterly Newsletter/Annual Report to spotlight current developments.
- Prepares status reports and meet with CMO monthly to review the reports and to plan/refine strategic initiatives for the following quarter.
- Provide feedback to CMO and/or CLO regarding sponsor group status, member concerns, quality issues and product acceptance. Recommend solution to problems, product enhancements and operational changes when applicable.
- Keep informed about the local financial marketplace and the activities of competitors. Maintain a strong working knowledge of all credit union products and services.
- Maintain current knowledge of all Credit Union policies and procedures, including compliance with federal laws and regulations as set forth by the NCUA and other regulatory agencies.
Additional Functions
- Attend conferences, seminars and training courses relating to areas of responsibility. May be required to attend volunteer meetings. Some travel may be required.
Job Specifications
- Requires two to three years of experience in business, marketing, sales, or communications.
- Requires high school education. A four-year degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Act 33 and 34 child abuse clearances.
- Prior credit union marketing & business development experience preferred.
- Available on some Saturdays/evenings/early mornings required.
- Requires professional, well-developed interpersonal skills for communicating with students, teachers, executives, vendors, co-workers and the public.
- Must be a highly motivated, work well in an unstructured environment and possess exceptional client relations skills.
- Excels at both written and public speaking skills and is able to clearly present the credit union in all forms of written and verbal communication.
- Requires PC proficiency and knowledge of Office Suite.
- Possess strong decision-making skills are detailed oriented and able to work well in an unsupervised environment.
- Accept change easily and redirect initiatives as necessary to implement change as seamlessly as possible.
