Job Description: MƒA has an exciting opportunity for a creative, collaborative individual to join the Communications and Marketing Department. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Communications Manager will manage and support a variety of projects with the aim of building awareness of and engagement with MƒA. This role will work closely with all members of the Communications team and will have a heavy focus on social media, graphic design, and content creation, while also contributing to and collaborating on other work streams that advance the organization’s mission. This position is ideal for a proactive, dedicated team player who has an interest in education and nonprofit communications.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Manage social media program, including developing a robust content calendar, tracking and analyzing data, and staying current with trends
- Create content for MƒA platforms, including the website, blog, social media, and print; build and optimize email campaigns, including producing a monthly newsletter
- Participate in the development and execution of digital advertising and social media campaigns
- Serve as the primary graphic design lead, designing and assisting in the design of branded materials for social media, events, and our PD program, and managing graphic design partners
- Coordinate vendor relationships and logistics for video and photo shoots, including scheduling, editing photo and video footage, and managing an extensive library of assets
- Track and report on key metrics, including digital engagement, social media data, and google analytics
- Manage communications functions at occasional on- and off-site events, including handling live social media at our speaker series events, directing our photographer, and supporting special events like the Fall Function and Muller Award ceremony
- Support the team with other work streams as needed, including event planning, branding, public relations, and content planning and development, in addition to a variety of cross-departmental projects
- Handle some administrative tasks for the department such as scheduling, note taking, report creation, and billing
Within one month you will:
- Learn the work of each MƒA department and build relationships across teams
- Learn about the history, mission, and values of MƒA and how that informs the work that we do
- Get up to speed about the basic systems integral to the communications department, including our messaging platform, brand guidelines, timelines, and major projects
- Work alongside other staff members at team meetings and on cross-departmental projects
Within three months you will:
- Assume ownership of key work streams, including the monthly newsletter, social media, blog writing, and our digital assets library
- Participate in meetings to brainstorm and plan our communications projects and initiatives for the academic year, including the creation of a new recruitment ad campaign and other key projects
- Begin producing various assets, including video clips and social and programmatic graphics in coordination with external vendors
- Become familiar with updating the website, running reports on Salesforce, and analyzing Google analytics and ad data
Qualifications:
- Experience in an in-house or agency communications role with a strong focus on social media and digital communications
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, handle time-sensitive responsibilities, and collaborate across departments
- Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design (Adobe Creative Cloud, with a focus on InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), and video editing
- Comfortable working in a team setting and taking direction and feedback, while maintaining the ability to work independently
- Comfortable learning new technology, including email and digital software and Salesforce
- Demonstrates a self-starter mindset, and is responsible, reliable, and efficient
- Must be willing to flex your schedule to cover some evenings events, typically once per month
- Interest in nonprofit organizations and/or education is a plus
