Merchandiser/Social Media Manager
The Merchandise & Social Media Manager at St. Clair Country Club will try to maximize sales and profitability of the golf shop operations through the development and implementation of strategies, analysis, and appropriate reaction to sales trends, along with the overall support of the golf shop sales, gross margin, and turnover objectives. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining our social media presence and creating unique means to attract attention through these promotional avenues.
Job Responsibilities
General Duties
- Superior level of service to all members and guests arriving and leaving the club.
- Always maintain a positive image of St. Clair Country Club both on and off facility.
- Managing the Professional Shop counter in the absence of golf professionals.
- Attend any professional development seminars deemed necessary or that may further your growth at the club.
Specific area of responsibility
- Furnish an accurate and detailed monthly inventory report of all merchandise in the Professional Shop to the Head Professional and Club Controller on the first of each month and at other times as requested by the Head Professional. Maintain or exceed the COG’s monthly and yearly budgeted amount.
- Code all invoices to the appropriate inventory general ledger number on a timely and accurate basis.
- Oversee the inventory process with the Head Professional to include check in procedures, Jonas receiving procedures, pricing, and display procedures. Additionally, oversee the appearance of the merchandise displays as well as the cleanliness of the merchandise shop and your personal office area and stock room areas daily.
- Provide a detailed merchandise assortment plan and buying plan to the Head Professional for the Golf Shop.
- Control monthly and yearly inventory levels consistent with the goals as set by Head Professional.
- Manage the billing and receiving of vendor invoices.
- Train, motivate and develop golf staff to ensure effective performance and growth through consistent on the job training with the Head Professional.
- Develop business and long-range marketing plans supporting departmental goals, directions, and priorities.
- Provide a superior level of customer service, special order service and personalized service to the members and guests of St. Clair Country Club.
- Work closely with members to satisfy their merchandise requirements along with their corporate business needs.
- Maintain the Golf Genius Golf Shop special order system.
- Design, maintain and rotate unique, visually attractive merchandise displays.
- Maintain high visibility at appropriate times with the membership and on the shop floor.
- Assist professional staff with general customer service duties when assistance is needed. This will include scheduled counter time.
- Manage vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives.
- Formulate pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities, determining additional needed sales promotions, authorizing clearance sales, and studying trends.
- Maintain collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with vendors.
- Develop and execute season merchandise plans, visual presentation guidelines and pricing strategies.
- Promote new merchandise arrivals through a variety of social media (i.e. Instagram, SCCC website, app and weekly newsletter)
- Other duties as assigned by Head Professional and the Professional staff.

The salary range for this role, based in Pennsylvania is $50,000 to $55,000 with the possibility of commission opportunities, range will vary. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.
