Responsibilities of Medical Editorial Specialist:
- Posting content to Sitecore.
- Assist the Senior Managing Editor and Editorial Specialist in providing administrative support to the Editors of publications. This includes acting as a liaison between editors and contributors regarding headshots, and conflict-of-interest and copyright forms.
- Proofread articles and fact-check article in these publications as well as e-newsletters.
- Draft other articles and correspondence as needed.
- Proofread/copyedit documents and newsletters as needed.
- Assist Editorial Specialist with design, layout, HTML coding, and distribution of e-mail newsletters.
- Maintains data and runs database reports to ensure accuracy of newsletter mailing lists.
- Work with Communications Coordinator to help plan and schedule social media posts.
- Working with Editorial Specialist, maintain statistics on delivery and open rates for e-mail blasts and e-newsletters; track and report on trends.
- Assist in planning and organizing meetings and conference calls.
- Prepare agendas, attend editorial meetings, and take minutes.
- Maintain copyright transfer files and responds to reprint requests.
- Ensures that each issue of our newsletter is registered with the Library of Congress.
- Fills in for receptionist occasionally.
- Assists with other Communications Department projects as assigned.
Requirements for Medical Editorial Specialist:
- College degree. A minimum of three year’s work experience preferred.
- Strong writing, proofreading, editing, and organizational skills required.
- Experience with desktop publishing and graphic design (Quark and/or InDesign, Photoshop) preferred.
- HTML coding preferred.
- Must have attention to detail and be able to handle multiple tasks in an active work environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including professionalism and ability to work well with leadership required.
- Requires ability to speak audibly and listen actively.
- Requires ability to use computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
- May require ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- May require periodic out-of-town travel.
