Working as a HR Representative for a rapidly growing HR Consulting firm, you will have the opportunity to make an impact through your work by responding to inquiries on a variety of HR topics, and working on various HR-related processes and projects. Through our diverse client base, you will gain exposure to a variety of industries and companies both big and small.
This position can be based in any of the following areas however it will primarily be remote: Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, or Central New Jersey.
Responsibilities And Duties- Serve as a reliable point of contact for clients, utilizing exceptional written/verbal communication skills, professional demeanor, client savvy, and business acumen.
- Stay abreast and advise on a vast range of federal and multi-state employment law and compliance issues and HR best practices.
- Document client interactions and maintain detailed log for client billing purposes.
- Contribute to internal initiatives such as crafting newsletter content, writing proposals, etc.
- The areas of human resources for which this role may be responsible include, but are not limited to:
- Consulting with business owners, managers, and/or employees of our clients regarding policy questions and/or basic employee relations and benefit matters
- Responding timely to various verifications of employment and unemployment requests for information
- Medical leave of absence processing
- Data entry/maintenance of employee data in client HRIS and payroll systems
- Initiating background checks and communicating results
- Composing offer letters and ensuring completion of all applicable employment documents and new hire forms
- Tracking reports/metrics for clients, such as leave of absence activity, etc.
- Conducting exit interviews
- Filing workers compensation claims
- Tracking paid time off
- Assisting with transcribing and tracking messages left on HR/Ethics Hotlines
- Sourcing, posting, reviewing and phone screening applicants and documenting activities in an ATS.
Required
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent HR experience in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks, priorities, and interruptions
- Strong proficiency in the use of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
- Basic math aptitude and ability to do calculations in Excel
- Excellent client service and problem-solving orientation
- Team player, results-focused, high ethical standards and strong work ethic
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to both follow structured processes and tolerate ambiguity as situations demand
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to organize work assignments, set priorities, meet deadlines, maintain an efficient workflow, and use time effectively
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Desired/Preferred
- HR Certification, such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related discipline
- One (1) year prior experience in a shared services capacity
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws including but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, COBRA, EEO, and FLSA
- Previous payroll software experience, leave administration, benefits administration strongly desired
