Job Summary
This Communications Coordinator will serve as a resource, providing communications and marketing support to internal constituencies across SEAS. Working as part of a small and cohesive team, under the supervision of the Director of Visual Communications and New Media, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the non-technical maintenance of the school’s website ( www.seas.harvard.edu ) and the creation of a variety of web, print, email, and social media assets.
This position requires experience in the field of communications; aptitude with the tools of modern communications (see below); graphic design savvy; the innate ability to self-start, task-manage, and work independently as well as with a team; and a level of ease with networking and build strong working relationships across departments and units.
Position Description
- Serve as co-owner of the SEAS website.
- Update content on the SEAS website: post news stories, identify and report on out-of-date content and broken links, respond to content-related website tickets, work with other with other offices/departments on the regular content maintenance of their pages.
- Provide basic CMS training and troubleshooting to SEAS website content contributors.
- Provide website permissions to SEAS staff as necessary.
- Responsible for content aggregation, list maintenance, and timely distribution of the regularly scheduled email newsletter, Inside SEAS (weekly).
- Assist with the design and production of print materials including brochures, posters, programs, and other digital assets.
- Photograph SEAS events as necessary.
- Assist in the production of SEAS promotional videos as necessary.
- Build PowerPoint presentations for internal and external communication.
- Participate in social media asset creation and posting as needed. Monitor and report on social media analytics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Additional Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Experience adding and editing content in website content management systems. Familiarity with web maintenance a plus.
- An aptitude for graphic design. Formal design training a strong plus.
- An eye for detail as well as proficiency with proofreading and copyediting.
- Experience with photography, video, and social media is a plus.
- Proficiency in: Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Trello, Slack, Mailchimp, and Survey Monkey.
- Experience with Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Premiere preferred.
- Strong organizational, time and project management skills; attention to detail; problem-solving skills; and the ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- A willingness and ability to quickly learn new skills and adjust to change is essential.
- The position requires a team player who is able to function effectively in a highly complex organizational environment but also able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- The ability to work occasional extra hours, including evenings and/or weekends, to meet deadlines, support events, or address emergencies is required.
Physical Requirements
This position will require occasional travel between the Allston and Cambridge campuses.

The work is performed in a hybrid of home and office environment.
