PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Human Resources Assistant should be an enthusiastic professional experienced with California labor laws, trade unions, and onboarding. As the Human Resources Assistant, you will be responsible for managing employee paperwork, electronic filing and HRIS entry; assisting with recruiting, employee engagement and collaborating on policies and procedures; some marketing, along with other HR related projects. Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, you will be exposed to many human resource related functions as well as industry dynamics.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Electronic employee filing
- HRIS entry of employee documents such as W4s, direct deposits, new hire & rehire packets, change of address, emergency contacts, pay merits, etc.
- Processing verification of employments
- Annual ordering of company labor law posters with site distribution
- Constructing of Foreman Boxes
- Initial candidate phone screenings
- Maintain harassment training log
- Involvement on the company’s bi-annual newsletter
- Collaborate with revisions and interpretations of policies and procedures
- Manage HR department’s intranet page
- Aid with social media posts
- Support the HR team with monthly employee engagement events
- Assist HR Manager with other HR related projects and initiatives
- Opportunity to participate on company committees, visit job sites, and expand human resource knowledge
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 1-year Human Resources experience or BA in Human Resources
- Fluent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- California labor law knowledge
- Trade Union knowledge a plus
- Great attention to detail
- High volume, fast paced workflows at times
- Organizational skills
- Positive attitude with a hunger to learn
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Active driver license, dependable vehicle and able to drive freeways
- Some travel may be required
- The person in this role may be walking, moving boxes, lifting, sitting, and bending for long periods of time
- Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machine, printer, and other virtual technology
