Established in 1993, Tampa Bay Watch is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the recovery and protection of the Tampa Bay estuary through scientific and educational programs. With the opening of our second location, the Discovery Center in downtown St Petersburg, our organization is growing and this position will support our expanding communications capacity, including visual graphics, marketing collateral and websites.
This is an exciting opportunity to create meaningful relationships and impact in the Tampa Bay community. The Graphic Designer/Content Creator role will utilize and fully understand the importance of visual communication and storytelling.
Position Summary: Responsible for creating and developing content for multiple platforms, including designing artwork, layouts, brochures, web and social media content and visual aids. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications and collaborate with leaders across the organization to drive the brand and messaging for Tampa Bay Watch programs, initiatives, fund-raising and earned revenue opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Marketing team in all areas of communication, marketing, advertising, public relations, consistent with the mission at Tampa Bay Watch
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications Director to develop marketing and communications plans to increase public awareness of the organization’s projects and programs, resulting in increased support from constituents and corporate partners
- Create content and messaging for all print and digital channels to increase brand awareness in and out of market and increase online engagement
- Administer and maintain integrity of the TBW websites including content, needed updates, adding and editing content, optimizing navigation, enforcing style consistency, monitor and report on key metrics using data from Google Analytics and other tools, and implement SEO best practices
- Supports the content development, from written to video including blogs, podcasts, newsletter design, and social media. Encourage creativity and innovative, data-driven approaches
- As part of team, contribute and help manage TBW’s social media presence (website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc.) including content creation for tweets, posts and videos
- Identify and support best approaches to align the overall communication strategy with Tampa Bay Watch’s mission
- Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with a minimum of three years of professional media, marketing, advertising experience
- Demonstrated skill in creative layout and design with (portfolio review)
- Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate and timely reports and other documents to support relevant objectives.
- Computer experience should include Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Google applications, WordPress or other web-based media platforms and analytic software.
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms and related strategies to increase engagement and program registration
- Experience using website development and design tools and website building and hosting platforms
- Must have a working knowledge of Google Ads, Meta and other paid online advertising platforms
- Ability to make both instinctual and data-driven decisions related to marketing
- Strong written and visual content editing skills, and the ability to develop these skills in others
- Attention to visual detail with “good-eye” for high quality photography, video, design, etc. and the ability to curate eye-catching brand-aligned content
- Awareness of coastal ecosystems and related issues is extremely helpful but not required
- Ability to be flexible, maintain a good sense of humor and keep a universal perspective
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and written.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to professionally organize, present, and articulate ideas and information in an effective and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit or type; and talk or hear. The employee may be occasionally required to stand; walk for extended periods and spend time in the FL outdoor heat during special events. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
