TravelAwaits is looking for an Editorial Director to serve as the senior editorial leader of the site and to lead and grow the brand to new heights. TravelAwaits guides and inspires the 50+ traveler to plan, book, and enjoy more travel. We are seeking an Editorial Director who is excited by this mission and wants to join a company that still operates like a startup with big growth goals. The ideal candidate will be an expert communicator who has a strong ability to lead a growing editorial team, both in house and freelance, and collaborate across a range of departments and partners. As Editorial Director you will plan, oversee, and evaluate the success of all written content for the site and its extensions. You are responsible for planning the company's vision for the publication, including its short- and long-term goals. You are a data-driven storyteller with expertise in SEO and a creative, experimental mindset.

- Develop content that engages and grows the 50+ traveler audience
- Review and improve organizational processes
- Lead the internal and freelance team of writers, editors, and operators
- Use data and creative thinking to craft stories and assignments that delight our audience and grow our reach
- Develop, implement, and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans
- Maintain project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished effectively
- Oversee email newsletter operations from list growth to content and engagement
- Oversee day-to-day editorial operations, assign weekly and monthly performance goals, and evaluate impact of efforts

- An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to achieve goals in an ambiguous environment
- Success in a managerial role, specifically in editorial organizations, with travel experience as a plus
- Data-driven thinking, preferably with experience using Google Analytics
- Experience growing a site or brand through SEO and/or newsletter channels
- Strong decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
- Proven ability to develop and achieve financial plans
- Ability to motivate and lead employees, and hold them accountable
