Position Summary

The Analyst Safety Investigations is responsible for supporting and executing the administrative and programmatic aspects of the JetBlue Safety Investigations program. The Analyst Safety Investigations will administer a data-driven system, based largely upon scientific principles and operational knowledge, which allows for continuous monitoring and management of safety risks associated with event-level errors.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and facilitates the processes of the Safety Investigations Program
  • Processes safety reports related to operational events
  • Conducts notifications to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and key management personnel of significant operational events as directed by the Manager Safety Investigations
  • Produces communications, reports, slides, newsletter articles etc. regarding Safety investigations
  • Collects information to facilitate event investigation and analysis. Information collection efforts will include, but are not to be limited to conducting Crewmember interviews, soliciting written statements, and researching technical and/or regulatory documents
  • Produces factual and statistically sound analysis of Safety Investigations activity, and safety trends including conclusions and follow-up activity as required
  • Disseminates information to relevant operational managers to ensure an awareness of relevant safety issues and trends identified through investigations
  • Develops, maintains, and continuously improves the Safety Investigations team dashboards
  • Assist in the coordination and tracking of corrective actions resulting from Safety investigations
  • Conducts safety assessments and/or investigations of operational events and/or safety issues as directed by the Manager Safety Investigations
  • Participate in airline industry safety conferences, groups, and associations to include domestic and international travel
  • Ensure adherence to all safety and security regulations
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Experience And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in aviation safety, operations, analysis, or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • One (1) year of experience in MS Office applications (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Able and motivated to learn and understand new software in detail
  • Working knowledge of airline maintenance, flight operations, dispatch, cabin operations, ground operations and commercial aviation regulations desired
  • Working knowledge of regulation governing commercial aviation safety, security, environmental and employee health and safety
  • Working knowledge of aviation reporting systems, safety programs, safety principles, and Just Culture
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Valid Passport or equivalent travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship


Preferred Experience And Qualifications

  • One (1) year of relevant aviation industry experience in safety and/or safety programs
  • Experience in aviation operations (FAA certificated Pilot, Airframe & Powerplant (A&P), Dispatcher and/or work experience in an operational role at a Part 121 air carrier or aircraft original equipment manufacturer (OEM))
  • Operational and/or system knowledge or experience with Airbus A220/A320 family, Embraer E-JETS, or similar large transport category aircraft
  • Ability to conduct or support data and/or statistical analyses to provide meaningful and actionable insight that improve JetBlue’s safety performance
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work under stress in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment


Crewmember Expectations

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation

  • The base pay range for this position is between $58,500.00 and $89,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
