**Your New Role…**
The
- Managing Editor, Content Strategy** , is responsible for developing and implementing impactful strategies that will grow revenue and audience for CNN Commerce content and build inroads to new users and revenue streams for Commerce content and products.
This new role will oversee the CNN Commerce editorial and content programming teams Commerce’s editorial product, CNN Underscored, developing strategies with input and insights from the Research, Audience Development, Data & Revenue Insights and Business Development teams.
The ME will work closely with the head of Underscored Editorial to develop and manage a content calendar and strategy that drives business goals and increases traffic across distribution platforms and referral sources. They will also work with the programming team to refine strategies for internal promotion and be tasked with scaling efforts like push notifications, syndication and email.
The role supports the VP of Commerce and leads from Business Development, Data Insights, Research, SEO and Product in developing and implementing strategies for new growth, engagement and revenue, leveraging Commerce Content and products both on- and off-platform.
The ideal candidate is a leader with a proven track record of developing strategies that grow audience and revenue for digital publishers. Previous experience working for a commerce publisher is preferred, but not required.
**Your Role Accountabilities…**
- Create Commerce content strategies that will grow audience and engagement KPIs
- Manage Underscored content production and programming, leveraging insights, data and audience trends that will maximize revenue while staying aligned with CNN’s commitment to quality journalism and transparency with readers.
- Serve as the bridge between Data Insights, SEO and Underscored Editorial to ensure we are producing content that is engaging and on-brand while enabling us to scale traffic and reach aggressive audience and revenue goals.
- Ensure the Underscored content calendar supports and is aligned with the overall Commerce content strategy
- Manage the Underscored content programming team, including the homepage editor and email newsletter editor, closely tracking metrics and analytics to keep us on top of our readers’ interests
- Evolve our strategy for creating Commerce content optimized and tailored for video, social, the Underscored homepage, internal CNN.com channels, push notifications, email and syndication partners. (This role works closely with but does not manage our video producer and social team.)
- Work closely with VP, Commerce and Director of Business Development to identify new avenues for distributing and monetizing Commerce content and products and work with the broader Commerce team to execute them
- Assist our paid social content marketing partner, helping to evolve strategies that will optimize their efforts
**Qualifications & Experience…**
- College degree preferred
- 10 years of experience working on or with editorial teams; experience with SEO, Audience Development and Content Strategy is a must
- At least 5 years management experience
- Experience partnering with an SEO team to grow search audience for an editorial publisher
- Previous experience leading teams for an affiliate publisher a big plus
- The ability to break down potentially complex topics into an easily digestible format
- Flawless grammar & spelling
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, and comfortable using content management systems
- Strong creative and writing skills are required for this position.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized and have strong communication skills.

**The Legal Bits…**
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $151,760.00 - $281,840.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
