Disruption Books, the book publishing division of West Wing Writers and a hybrid trade publisher of nonfiction, is searching for a full-time editor. As an editor, you can expect to be an integral part of the Disruption Books team to help provide our authors high-quality editorial, design, and marketing services with full physical distribution to the trade. We believe in collaborating creatively and engaging personally to help authors inspire their audiences, and to bring their stories and ideas to market. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as project lead on five to eight titles per year, including editorial planning, design direction, production management and scheduling. Collaborate with the Publisher when needed.
- Work in partnership with authors to develop, draft, and edit manuscripts; ensure that authors stay on schedule.
- Collaborate with marketing on positioning, titling, and art direction for books and branding.
- Assign and manage editorial and production freelance partners for your projects, including ghostwriters and designers.
- Review copyedit and proofread work by freelance partners and finalize all rounds of editing on assigned titles.
- Audit author websites or collaborate with the marketing team on the development of new author sites, social media assets, and other content.
- Interface with authors’ publicity teams and other promotion partners; including writing press releases and sales copy as needed.
- Contribute to Disruption Books website, social media accounts, and newsletter.
Requirements
- At least three years in the trade publishing industry and a history as an experienced project manager in the field.
- Has a history of successfully meeting deadlines while working with outside consultants and/or clients.
- Has experience producing written materials such as cover copy, blogs, newsletters, bylined articles, social media content, or other strategic messaging. Ideally, the candidate has conceived and produced these written products from start to finish, with minimal guidance or oversight.
- Is familiar with and has utilized project manager methodologies, including developing workflows, schedules, processes, and tracking for publishing efforts.
- Is comfortable and has experience working in a client-facing capacity, showing dependability and professionalism while building and maintaining your relationships with them.

Benefits
Salary of $60,000 - $70,000, dependent on the candidate’s level of experience. Benefits include full health, dental, vision, and life insurance paid by West Wing Writers, with 25% of dependents’ premiums covered. All employees earn 15 days of vacation leave, 7 sick days, 2 floating holidays, and 12 paid holidays off a year. We also have a robust medical leave and parental leave policy.
