JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President of External Affairs, the Communications and Administrative Intern will support the department's goals 1) effectively market and communicate Doyon's role on a state and national level, 2) update Doyon shareholders on corporate activities, and 3) keep employees informed about corporate operations and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Communications
- Assist with the drafting of communications and marketing materials including;
- Monthly newsletter and e-newsletter
- Corporate website sections
- Employee intranet
- Corporate advertisements and other materials as needed
- Brochures, cards, special publications, and corporate presentations
- Support planning and implementing marketing campaigns
- Assist with planning, organizing, and attending various corporate and community events as needed
- Act as the backup corporate photographer
- Calendar management for communications/meeting rooms, call-in information, follow-up meetings, and agendas.
- Preserve confidentiality of proprietary information and use judgment in recognizing the scope of authority
- Provide records management and filing
- Compose and prepare routine correspondence and support the development of recurring reports
- Create weekly status reports on department activities and priorities
- Manage day-to-day execution of assigned projects and scope
Administration
- Make travel, meeting, and conference arrangements
- Serve as backup for the Receptionist
- Greet and interact with visitors and guests
- Answer, screen, and relay incoming and outgoing calls
- Attend meetings, as necessary, and take minutes
- Monitor and order office supply inventory
- Responsible for sorting and distribution of incoming mail and handling of outgoing mail
- Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a Doyon Shareholder
- Highly proficient with MS Office Suite
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro
- Strong writing and speaking skills and demonstrated experience in communications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Driver's license, ready access to a registered vehicle, and must be able to provide proof of state-required insurance on a registered vehicle
- Post-secondary student in good standing; pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, or public relations is preferred
- Minimum 3.0 overall GPA
SKILLS INTERN WILL OBTAIN
- The intern will obtain essential skills in organizing, planning, writing, researching, and networking.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
