Position Summary: The marketing and volunteer coordinator oversees marketing opportunities at the
organization, ensuring that the Children’s Dream Fund is visible in the community. This role managers the Children’s Dream Fund volunteer program, “Care Squad”, to engage community members in the Children’s Dream Fund mission. The role of the Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator is to provide outstanding organizational support and represent the Children’s Dream Fund as the point of contact for the public maintaining friendliness and professionalism, while undertaking multiple responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Volunteer Management:
• Coordinate and schedule volunteer activities by communicating with staff, and volunteers making every effort to understand the need and match it to the best qualified volunteer.
• Conduct individual and/or group onboarding calls and information sessions for volunteers ensuring consistent information is included in the volunteer’s record
• Provide exceptional volunteer stewardship through active volunteer communication, recognition and record-keeping.
• Use reports and record keeping for efficient identification and sourcing of volunteers, tracking of requests, processing volunteers, and more
• Contribute to the development of the volunteer program by suggesting improvements and making other recommendations to programs, processes, and products
• Answer questions from - and provide guidance to - staff and volunteers related to volunteer program activities, strategy, and opportunities.
Marketing:
• Oversee all marketing opportunities with the organization, including public speaking, branding, ensuring that the organization is recognized in a variety of ways and in numerous places.
• Build relationships with community partners to further the mission of the Children’s Dream Fund.
• Oversee social media pages, respond to fan posts and create social media campaigns.
• Oversee email database, sending email ‘blasts’ to supporters communicating our mission and upcoming events to benefit the Children’s Dream Fund.
• Create monthly e-newsletter newsletter
• Manage the Children’s Dream Fund website and upload content regularly. (Familiar with Wordpress.)
• Be visible in the community, representing the Children’s Dream Fund\
• Represent the organization in a variety of settings and events, always promoting the company in the best possible way.
• Maintain and execute upon the media and advertising plan for the organization, including any media partnerships and sponsorships, as well as paid print and digital media.
• Explore opportunities and pitch stories about the organization with media.
• Write press releases, contact media.
• Represent the organization when media is present, including dream presentations, events.
Organizational:
• Provide limited supervision to others through motivation, direction, review and feedback of assigned tasks.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report unsafe activities to supervisor or human resources.
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
Qualification/Requirements:
• Exhibits qualities that align with the Dream Team Golden Rules outlined below
• Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service and time management skills
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients or members of the
community. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages applying basic concepts of algebra
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
• Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, recordkeeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, website, etc.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability prioritize, organize and delegate assignments
• Proficient in Canva, Constant Contact, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe applications, Hootsuite, and all social media platforms including YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
Education/Training/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge and expertise in marketing, website management, branding
• Knowledge or experience in non-profit organizations a plus
Physical Demands:
Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a production /technical nature. Manual dexterity sufficient to work with fingers.
Other:
Attend Children’s Dream Fund events on evenings and occasional weekends. Average 5+ hours per month.
