DiscNY is hiring! We are looking for an energetic individual to coordinate programming and support the growth of ultimate frisbee in the NYC area. Though this is an entry level position, you will have an opportunity to work closely with the Director of Operations to manage DiscNY programming at the youth and adult level.
The New York City Programs Coordinator (PC) will be in charge of overseeing existing outreach efforts and expanding current programs in an effort to expand and enhance the DiscNY community.
The PC will report to the director of operations and the Board of Directors and will work alongside coaches, Athletic directors, parents, teachers , volunteers and other various associates of DiscNY committees.
This is a part time position with the opportunity to expand into a full time role after 6 months (Paid Training). The PC will be expected to be onsite when possible including weeknight and weekend events, though a majority of the work will be remote.
Candidates must be have access to reliable transportation in order to attend and oversee adult and youth programs around the New york City region and will be able to obtain Chaperone and Coach status through USAU, Including a NSCI background check SafeSport certification, and heads up concussion training certifications) and active Tournament Director certification through USAU’s TDCP (all reimbursed when hired).

Expectations and Responsibilities:
Program Administration
- Prime directives of this position will be permit acquisition and program setup on approved permits. This includes recruitment and retention of all program staff (pre-event organizers, commissioners, tournament directors, volunteers, coaches, chaperones, etc.)
- Coordinate, organize, budget, and oversee all aspects of existing NYC area programs alongside current directors, including:
- Adult: Brooklyn Bridge Park Leagues (4 seasons) McCarren Pickup (Spring-Fall), Astoria Pickup (Spring through Fall), Prospect Park Goaltimate (Spring and fall), Queens Summer League, She/They/We Summer League, Survival Winter Pickup, and Chelsea Fall League
- Youth: NYC Youth Kickoff, Youth Cup Tournaments, High School league, Middle School League, Third Rail Ultimate (TRY-U) DISC NY’s elite youth summer league
- Conduct post program evaluations to develop programs further
- Provide regular reports to Director of Operations and Board of Directors
Volunteer Management and Community Relations
- Recruit and manage volunteers, including coaches, coordinators, commissioners, etc. and lead volunteer orientations and trainings for relevant programs
- Effectively resolve issues and address questions and concerns of constituents (players, coaches, volunteers, organizers, sponsors, etc.)
Resource Development and strategic growth
- Develop program specific resources for DiscNY volunteers and league/program guidelines
- Work to build and expand existing program offerings, identify potential areas for growth, and build programming to address those growth areas
- Form and Chair a programs Committee with the aim to grow and solidify strategic plans for those growth areas
Marketing and Communications
- Determine best practices for and build systems to support communication to community members
- Assist in Marketing relevant programs to target populations through a monthly email newsletter, DiscNY properties, social media channels, etc.
Compensation
- $25 per hour during the 6 month training period depending on experience, up to 20 hours a week
- After the training period, salary will be discussed at an effective rate between $41,600-$62,400 depending on performance during training period and efficacy in the role
- Note: Benefits are not included in the salary listed
- Benefits: Health Stipend, Paid Time Off, flexible vacation periods/ personal time.
- There will be busy and relaxed periods during the year so these will also require discussion after the training period
