Working in partnership with the Director of Public Relations, they will maintain enterprise-wide messaging and narratives; monitor ongoing media coverage and track relevant media metrics; and enhance standards and best practices across for press releaeses, interviews and other relevant activities. The selected candidate will build and maintain relationships with key reporters; draft and edit press releases and interview prep documents; and distribute daily news clips to leadership. They should be an expert in AP style, with exemplary writing skills and a proven track record of clear and effective communications to media and other stakeholders. The nature of L3Harris’ work requires an innovative approach to Public Relations and the ability to distill complex, technical information into common language.The role reports to the Director of Public Relations.Essential Functions:Develop and execute proactive Public Relations/Media Relations engagement strategies that further L3Harris’ position as the industry’s Trusted DisruptorPrepare media briefing materials for media engagements; manage media interviews for senior leadersBuild and maintain relationships with the media and other relevant influencers; manage corporate media listsProvide media training to senior leaders and subject matter expertsDevelop executives’ media positions and/or thought leadership strategies; execute appropriatelyServe as AP style expert when reviewing enterprise-wide press releases; develop and/or edit press releases or other materials for corporate initiatives and segment campaignsSupport creation and updates of enterprise-wide messaging and Q/A documents for key programs, technologies and initiativesDevelop and execute responses to Tier 1 queries; support other segment queries as neededMonitor ongoing media coverage; support crisis monitoring and responsePartner with global Communications team members to execute integrated communications and marketing campaignsIn collaboration with vendors, serve as a daily newsletter editor/distribute news clipsCollect and report relevant media metricsPerform benchmarking exercises that help identify and test new trends and tacticsSupport development of annual corporate reports and/or quarterly events like EarningsSupport opportunities that help establish company or its representatives as industry experts and trusted sources of knowledgeCarry out additional activities as assigned by managementQualifications:Bachelor’s Degree with 12 years of prior related experience in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, English or Master’s Degree with 10 years of of equivalent work experience - In lieu of a degree, 16 years of prior related experience8 years of experience in Journalism, Public Relations or CommunicationsPreferred Additional Skills:AP StyleExperience writing about the defense, science or technologyExperience using media monitoring, distribution and tracking tools to analyze coverageWriting and editing skillsKnowledge of defense media; existing media relationships and/or knowledge of publicationsPossess a understanding of the role that earned media/influencers have in today’s environmentA collaborative and effective team member and leader with a positive approach who can think outside the box and problem solve in real timeExperience working with and influencing cross-functional/cross-divisional teamsAbility to develop cooperative relationships with all levels of management and staffSelf-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, under with deadlinesOrganized with a proven ability to plan, coordinate and track projects from start to close compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $MIN - $MAX.
