Position Summary
Develop/implement strategic internal communication plans/initiatives that promote the company’s purpose, strategies and business priorities. Execute corporate internal communications initiatives to improve associate engagement/communication, drive business results and deliver on Customer 1 st promise by sharing our unique story. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead in the creation of internal communications that inspire associate to adopt behaviors that improve customer experience; create/implement strategies to bring our purpose to life every day
- Support/contribute to the Corporate Affairs (CA) story engine by creating compelling content that increases associates’ company commitment and highlights ways they make a difference
- Act as a communications consultant for division leaders with CA manager guidance
- Lead internal communications strategies/planning processes; create monthly messages for leaders and manager communication training workshops
- Provide strategic communications counsel/tactical support to local bargaining teams before, during and after contract negotiations
- Serve e-newsletter editor in partnership with General Office (G.O.) team
- Serve as primary division web content manager for company intranet and as a resource for division content managers; help measure/improve intranet use/content effectiveness
- Work with divisions and G.O. Kroger Television (KTV) producers to produce a weekly video that recognizes associates and connects people to Kroger’s purpose
- Serve as division’s internal business social network community manager; monitor activity, plan and host engagement events; curate top conversations/results
- Write, edit and produce a division magazine (digital where appropriate) at least bi-monthly containing a blend of company and local content
- Support Merchandising, Operations and Human Resources (HR) initiatives to drive engagement with key stakeholders across multiple channels
- Promote/administer company’s annual Associate Insights Survey among division associates
- Provide event support/content development for company, division, district and store leadership meetings
- Manage division’s text messaging/alert program
- Manage resources/consultants as determined by division CA manager to deliver timely, accurate information and oversee completion of work from concept to delivery
- Work with G.O. associate communications managers to improve communication measurements/effectiveness
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:
- 2 years’ corporate communications experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, communications or a related field
- Excellent oral/written communication skills; ability to write a wide variety of print/online collateral materials
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Ability to handle highly confidential information
Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:
- 3 years’ corporate communications experience, including knowledge of and experience with human resources and organizational change
- Print production/web content management experience
- Media, social media and digital content development experience
- Experience communicating with a unionized workforce
- Experience in a retail environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
