The Assistant Director of Graduate Career Education will provide a world class career education experience for Suffolk graduate students at all career stages that builds campus community and ensures a successful career outcome for every graduate student at scale. This position reports to the Director of Career Education in the Center for Career Equity, Development and Success.
Primary Responsibilities
Supporting Graduate Students Through the Implementation of Scaled Services

Provide a structured career advancement experience that ensures graduate students build the skills and competencies required to achieve their career goals. Administer our Career of Distinction non-credit, asynchronous online course to educate and support graduate students at scale.

Enhance the Career of Distinction program’s impact by incorporating scalable 1:1 and cohort-group-based advising models that foster belonging and enable graduate students to connect and assist each other in navigating similar experiences throughout their career journey.

Develop Canvas Credentials badging for the Career of Distinction program utilizing gamification strategies to deliver a positive, meaningful learning experience.
+
Engage in close collaboration with key stakeholders to weave the Career of Distinction program into the tapestry of graduate student life, while also continually developing tailored content to meet their evolving needs.
+
Work with the Career Communities Team to refer students to the appropriate Career Community advisor for industry specific advising. Promote Career Communities programs and events and encourage graduate student attendance.

Work with the Career Center’s Equity and Access Team to ensure that career education initiatives are inclusive of all graduate students and are reaching graduate student populations that may be traditionally underserved.
Supporting Faculty and Other Campus Partners Through Career Education Curriculum Development

Design comprehensive, strategic programming to engage faculty in our efforts to scale access to career readiness content as the Career Center develops a “career everywhere” culture.
+
Maintain a thorough understanding of the curriculum associated with each graduate degree program. Serve as a subject matter expert for the career-related needs of mid-career and executive level graduate students and alumni. Conduct classroom presentations as requested.

Work in close partnership with graduate program administrators and faculty members to discern their specific needs in fostering graduate students' career success, and subsequently provide tailored solutions to address those needs. Set up reliable ways to gather feedback on how well we're supporting graduate faculty and where we can enhance our services.

Assist the Career Education team with the creation of a repository of career-oriented instructional resources designed for faculty, encompassing toolkits, assignments, classroom activities, discussion prompts, quizzes, assessments, facilitation guides, presentations, portfolios and more to help empower faculty to integrate career development into their classrooms and to encourage resource exchange.

Establish mechanisms to document the diverse applications of career readiness content across campus that can recognize exceptional faculty contributions, inspire fellow faculty, and quantify our progress in connecting this work to graduate student success outcomes.
Administrative and Data Initiatives
+
Develop systems to stay in touch with graduate students and alumni to document and follow-up on their progress in exploring career options, networking, securing internships and conducting job searches, providing additional support when necessary.
+
Create an annual communication plan in collaboration with our Associate Director of Marketing aimed at improving our graduate student outcomes including the Grad Career Newsletter and other engagement strategies.
+
Analyze information to make data-informed decisions about our work and to drive continuous improvement within our Center. Provide reports at regular intervals to communicate the success of our initiatives.
+
Conduct ongoing “Voice of the Customer” focus groups and interviews with graduate students to understand strengths and areas of improvement in our graduate career experience. Oversee Grad Fellows and others as needed.

Support the work of Graduate Admissions and Enrollment Management to recruit and retain graduate students. Serve as the Career Center’s main point person to coordinate the Career Center’s involvement in presenting at Graduate Admissions Open House Events, New Graduate Student Orientations, and assist with positioning of our services to prospective students.
Minimum Requirements And Qualifications

Holds a bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of full-time professional experience.
+
Possesses ability to develop career-related curriculum and assess learning outcomes. Displays a dynamic, empathic teaching style that engages learners; is credible with graduate students, teaching faculty and staff.
+
Demonstrates competence and sensitivity in advising students who are broadly diverse with regard to various aspects of identity, such as race, ethnicity, ability status, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, nationality, and religion; committed to building and maintaining an inclusive environment, placing justice, diversity, equity, inclusion and access at the forefront.

Presents ability to help graduate students and mid-career alumni craft a career strategy, articulate their professional value, and gain the competencies and experiences required for success after graduation.

Exhibits drive and motivation to learn on their own and takes initiative to solve problems and to provide excellent customer service.

Demonstrates understanding of marketing, communication, branding, and campaign messaging strategies and best practices; Excellent written communication, public speaking, and listening skills.
Preferred Requirements/Qualifications
+
Holds a master's degree.
+
Experience teaching in any setting.
+
Experience with curriculum development, assessment, adult learning theories, instructional design, and gamification strategies.
+
Experience using Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Blackboard and Moodle.
+
Experience using Excel and other data analysis tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
+
Experience using CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software such as Salesforce, Hubspot , and Zoho .
Additional Information
+
This is a full-time, 12-month position with a hybrid work schedule that will require a regular, in-person presence at our downtown Boston campus. The schedule may be subject to change.
+
The role requires flexibility to work nights, early mornings, weekends and some holidays as needed to accommodate graduate students' and alumni's schedules and to participate in meetings and events.
