The Academy for Teachers is looking for a communications partner to support our goal of spreading awareness of our organization among teachers, school administrators, friends, and prospective donors, and publishing content that honors teachers.
Location: Fully remote, New York, NY Reporting to: Chief Operations Officer
Commitment: 20 business hours per week creating and publishing content, inclusive of two 1-hour meetings with the program team (detailed hourly distribution appended).
Terms: This is an independent-contractor (1099) role at a rate of $21/hr. It is a contract position to terminate by December 31, 2023, or before, with or without cause, and possible renewal thereafter.
Key Role Objectives
Facilitate a smooth workflow for promoting programs and publishing content
- Content Calendar: Maintain the content calendar and posting schedule, adapting as needed to prioritize key posts
- Social Media: Create and post content consistently on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube (leveraging existing templates/guides, with room for creativity)
- Email: Partner with program team to gather information, write program blurbs, design email layout (using templates), and publish program information across various channels (listservs, education boards)
- Web: Support the program team in keeping the website up to date with latest program information, writing blurbs, and creating landing pages where needed
Help grow engagement with our content across all channels
- Dedicate time to engaging with teachers on social media
- Repost great teacher content across channels
- Engage with our list of teacher hashtags and accounts
- Follow all teachers in our community
- Prioritize sending relevant content to the right audiences via email
- Build relationships with Social Liaisons in the community
Help grow our audience through new content initiatives
- Run a paid, social-media campaign, and plan for its continuation
- Maintain and grow paid search keywords and terms
- Collect content for a monthly newsletter (using templates)
- Get 1-3 new content campaigns up and running
Qualifications
- Very organized and works well as part of a remote team
- Self-motivated and patient with process, avoiding delays by advance planning
- Strong writing skills, able to write concise copy from multiple sources of information
- Adept with Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager
- Strong design skills and familiarity with Canva and Mailchimp are a plus
- Experience creating content for social-media and email marketing
- Experience writing within a brand voice
