Assistant Controller - Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation

Reporting directly to the Controller, you'll be a vital addition to the Finance and Administration team, contributing your expertise to further the Foundation's mission of creating an enduring legacy of good.

What You'll Do:

  • Operate proactively at both tactical and strategic levels, demonstrating efficiency and a results-oriented approach with all resources, including time, effort, and finances
  • Be a self-reliant problem solver who understands and integrates technology to strengthen finance operations and improve systems
  • Collaborate with the Finance team, seeking input from others to produce the best outcomes and emphasizing people and relationships
  • Maintain accurate financial records and processes, including:
    • Assisting with the annual financial statement audit and tax compliance
    • Preparing the annual filing of Form 1099 for vendors
    • Supporting budget preparation and providing regular reporting and reconciliations
  • Manage investment accounting activities, such as reconciling monthly investment accounts and preparing journal entries for portfolio transactions
  • Prepare periodic budget, investment, cash flow, and expenditure reports for the organization's trustees and committees
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Finance team, identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency

Qualifications:

  • Required: 4-6 years of experience in managing finance and accounting, ideally in a private foundation or nonprofit setting
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Finance and/or Accounting, with a preferred advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or a CPA
  • Preferred: Demonstrated expertise in investment accounting and a keen interest in institutional investing
  • Preferred: Experience in private foundation or nonprofit accounting, with a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting standards
