The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) exists to promote and protect responsible journalism through advocacy, education and honoring excellence. We’re growing our team and are in search of a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to showcase RTDNA’s programs and services, manage our social media accounts, and coordinate our email campaigns. 


Working closely with the Associate Executive Director, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will play a role in all programs and services the Association offers and will help develop and grow strategies to broaden our reach across the journalism industry. 


We’re looking for someone to join our small but mighty team who possesses strong customer service skills and writing abilities, a keen attention to detail and a passion for organization. The role is a perfect fit for someone interested in managing a digital marketing and communications portfolio, contributing big, innovative ideas across all areas of the organization, and using technology to enhance all aspects of our outreach. 


Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis and will be accepted until Feb. 29 with a goal to find a great team member to join us in March.


Responsibilities 

  • Help develop and implement marketing campaigns across all platforms to drive attendance and interaction for RTDNA events and projects. 
  • Manage RTDNA’s social media accounts, developing both content to publish to those accounts as well as strategy to guide that content creation.
  • Develop and curate marketing and industry-related content for RTDNA’s weekly e-newsletter and help grow subscriber base. 
  • Help maintain RTDNA’s content calendar to ensure all programs and initiatives receive adequate communications support. 
  • Assist in maintaining RTDNA’s website, including editing, creating and curating content, and website publishing. 
  • Assist in developing strategy for RTDNA’s First Amendment and press freedom advocacy efforts. 
  • Work with volunteers and vendors to create and share rich content from RTDNA’s pillar events (RTDNA conference, Murrow Awards Gala, First Amendment Awards). 
  • Collaborate with other staff members to develop membership marketing strategies to recruit the next generation of RTDNA members. 
  • Assist fellow RTDNA staff at in-person events to ensure an exceptional experience for all attendees, speakers and sponsors. 
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills. 
  • Experience in marketing or communications, journalism, or related work.
  • Experience producing email newsletters and email marketing campaigns, as well as experience working with email marketing software. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and grow social media brands. 
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate. 
  • Ability to innovate and find solutions to complex problems. 
  • Knowledge of and passion for journalism — particularly broadcast and digital journalism — is preferred. 
  • Strong sense of design is a plus. 
  • Experience working with associations/non-profits is a plus. 


Employment Details 

Type: Full-time remote position 

Reports to: Associate Executive Director 

Works closely with: Executive Director, President, Director of Education & Events, Director of Awards & Programs, Director of Experience 

Direct report: None 

Starting salary: $45,000+
