The Content Marketing Specialist will play a key role in helping to build and manage McLanahan's content marketing strategy. This person will own all content marketing initiatives by creating compelling stories that align with McLanahan's marketing goals, educate our customers, grow brand recognition and drive traffic. This person should be a passionate storyteller who enjoys multichannel marketing and working with team members to reach goals. The Content Marketing Specialist is a high-energy person that has a passion for creating content that tells our story and speaks to our customers. The ideal candidate must be customer oriented, accept constructive criticism and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities

  • Follow direction provided by the Content Marketing Manager.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
  • Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organization's core values.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Author and coordinate the production of creative marketing and communications materials across print and digital platforms, including but not limited to blogs, white papers, infographics, case studies/testimonials, eBooks, landing pages, webinar content, digital publications, presentations, how-to videos, etc.
  • Create and maintain the content calendar and work closely with team members to guarantee the timely production of materials for campaigns, blogs, and other relevant materials. Identify opportunities for content repurposing for multi-channel marketing efforts, such as videos, infographics, print materials, etc.
  • Conduct research across multiple technical industries, and collaborate with technical experts to create effective stories to educate and engage target audiences.
  • Have a strong understanding of SEO best practices to ensure that content increases the company's digital relevance across all platforms.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of content across channels and adapt strategic efforts to ensure materials meet the needs of the customer during their stages of the buyer's journey.
  • Provide expertise on best practices for content marketing efforts by staying current with technology and researching the latest trends and emerging media, helping to suggest and explore emerging forms of advertising and digital media that may enhance marketing efforts.
  • Responsible for maintaining the corporate voice and tone throughout all marketing and communications materials, as well as assisting other team members with copywriting and editing to evangelize the importance of storytelling and content marketing.
  • Assist in the management of digital content hubs and all supporting social media channels, as well as email/newsletter distribution.

Educational/Other Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in communications, English, journalism, marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in writing and/or content creation. Experience writing in technical or industrial settings preferred .
  • Experience with marketing automation software, such as HubSpot, Marketo, Eloqua preferred.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and is able to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines with the flexibility to accommodate changes.
  • Superior writing and grammar skills with very strong organizational skills and attention to detail is required.
  • Strong ability to translate complex, scientific concepts into compelling stories and visuals.
  • Enjoys working in a team environment and is able to work collaboratively with team members while still self-motivated and can take initiative to complete tasks with little direction.
  • Enjoys both strategy and hands-on writing and editing.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to stay current on industry trends in content marketing and best practices for enhanced user experience.

Physical Requirements

This position is typically located in an office setting and requires sitting and standing for long periods of time. The position requires ambulatory skills sufficient to travel domestically and internationally. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of both verbal and written communication.
