Summer Associate, Human Resources – Compensation

The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking a Summer Associate for our Human Resources team.

Program Details

  • This position is open to graduate students only.
  • A cover letter is required.
  • The 2024 summer program will run for 11 weeks from June – August 2024.
  • This position will be based in New York with either a hybrid or fully remote schedule. Students engaged in fully remote work must be based in the United States.

Pay Range:$30- $35 hourly rate. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. This is a non-exempt position and thus eligible for overtime pay.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and execution of compensation reviews, including market pricing jobs and offer reviews.
  • Prepare various annual and ad hoc compensation or related survey submissions.
  • Assist in mapping roles to levels in a compensation framework.
  • Support the Compensation team to interpret data findings and support in the design and implementation of compensation programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all sensitive information.
  • Document processes in an effort to complete a Compensation Manual.
  • Assist in developing a compensation job code catalog by reviewing existing salary ranges and harmonizing them into a framework.
  • Draft compensation-related reports (Excel and PPT).
  • Conduct compensation-related research, as needed.
  • Assist with a variety of tasks and projects, as needed.

Education, Experience, And Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a human resources graduate degree program.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in compensation administration, job analysis, and salary surveys or related experience required.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to create reports, including formulas and pivot tables.
  • Ability to create tools and resources using Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ADP, Canva, and Slack is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze facts, exercise sound judgment, and explain rationale in arriving at decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Collaborative, innovative, eager to learn, and interested in how the Foundation creates and implements strategies working alongside partners.
  • Previous work experience in the non-profit/private foundation industry is preferred.
  • Must be a proactive self-starter and a team player.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
