Job Summary:

The Mental Health Promotion Coordinator (MHP) position will assist in providing health education outreach and support in alignment of the Student Health Promotion Office. This position will assist in developing and delivering Student Health Promotion initiatives identified to support our graduate and health sciences student population using holistic and best practice approaches.

Collaboratively this position will plan, implement and assess events, trainings, and tools that support student well-being. The MHP specifically will provide support to primary prevention programming, health promotion marketing and communications, and in developing campus-wide partnerships to support academic programs and student success. This position will coordinate and implement advising student health promotion and advocacy groups; assisting with their recruitment, management of their activities and advocacy efforts. The MHP will represent Student Health Promotion on various specific educational outreach around student mental health and interpersonal violence prevention.

Duties:

30% - Health Promotion Engagement

  • Assist in the development and delivery of campus-wide events, trainings, and initiatives with focus around various mental health topics and promoting student well-being
  • Expand proactive and reactive mental well-being skill development and awareness, organize programming and lunch & learn sessions/trainings around mental health topics,
  • Assist with current trainings related to student mental health for a faculty & staff audience.
  • Assist in providing orientations, workshops, and Wellness Advocacy Faculty/Staff trainings.
  • Support in the management, promotion, and maintenance of Student Health Promotion online student resources: YOU@CUAnschutz, HelpCompass, TELUS Health Student Support App

20% - Advising

  • Serves as an advisor and coach to student peer health educators and advocacy groups; assisting with their recruitment, selection, retention, outreach, and advocacy efforts.
  • Provide support and guidance to student employee(s) and WeCU Peer Coaching Program.

20% - Campus Collaboration

  • Collaborates within and across disciplines and departments and serves on campus committees related to wellness initiatives and evidence-based programs.
  • Build mental health and well-being resources for outreach and support the academic programs.

20% - Communications

  • Lead the communications and promotions for Student Health Promotion, including weekly student newsletter and social media campaigns.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Student Affairs website.

10% - Evaluation and Data Reporting

  • Assist with campus-wide health and wellness assessments, surveys, and reports to identify student needs, strengths and gaps in service, and evaluation of Student Health Promotion initiatives.
  • Monitor and provide reports to engagement and usage of the Student Health Promotion online wellness resources.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in health education/ health promotion, public health, higher education, student affairs, social sciences or directly related field from an accredited institution.

    • 1 year of professional level experience in academic/student services, health promotions, mental health, community advocacy, education or training.

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master’s degree in public health, health education, higher education, social work, or other related field.

    • Experience in program planning of any of the following: health promotion initiatives, mental health training, sexual violence prevention, or bystander intervention strategies.
    • Experience advising student organizations and volunteers
    • Experience developing and delivering mental health programming and presentations
    • Experience working in a higher education setting

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $46,349 to $55,000.

    The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
