Science has an exciting opportunity for a paid summer internship with our Editorial Department!

The Newsletter Intern will be an active member of the ScienceAdviser team, helping provide the newsletter audience with the latest in Science and science every weekday.

What You’ll Do

  • Finding and proposing newsletter items from a variety of sources, including Science’s News, Commentary, and Research; Science family journal content; and other journals and trustworthy science outlets.
  • Writing for ScienceAdviser on a daily basis. Newsletter items typically run about 200 words and cover all areas of science and science policy.
  • Contribute to the longer segments of ScienceAdviser, including brief Protostar interviews, 600-word researched Deep Dives, and more.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or senior year of college; advanced degree or certification preferred.
  • Experience in writing about science for a broad (i.e. non-technical) audience, and should be prepared to report, research, and write under daily deadlines.
  • A background in science is preferred, but not required. Preference will be given to applicants who have published science journalism articles, have freelanced for or interned at a science news publication, and/or have completed a journalism or science writing program.

Internship Details

This is a remote, full-time paid internship, which will run from June 3, 2024 - August 23, 2024. The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is $17.50 per hour. We are able to hire remote workers in select states. If you are not located in or able to relocate to a state where AAAS has a business presence, you may not be eligible for this position.
